      One of my drawings - old man portrait

      This was an art project (distorting a portrait). I liked the photo quality on the unfinished work more, but I felt like I should include the finished piece as well. By the way it looks a lot better on paper. I can't tell you the exact size of the piece (Because I don't know it), but its more or less 19" x 24"

      Wow! That's really cool, Alex! :bravo: The sketch of his face is so realistic too! The distortion would be a difficult effect to pull off - good job!

      Could you edit the title for me to say one of my drawings - old man portrait
      I don't think people are too interested... expecting an old man embedded in a solid block of graphite, I assume.

      Wow, that is some really awesome work, ataraxis. The detail is astounding! With the distortion, he kind of reminds me of Don Knotts (Barney Fife).

      Great job! I especially love how the tie seems to be pulled down into the distortion near the bottom!

      The only advice I could give would be to try to darken up the background a touch (being primarily a mechanical pencil artist myself, I know that this is easier said than done). It seems like you can see some of the lines in the background. It's very possible that this is just the camera angle and the lighting, though.

      Very realistic, keep up the great work!

      Yeah, to be honest ataraxis I was half-expecting something like this.

      However using my amazing powers of deduction...

      Graphite= Pencil lead

      Pencil lead in Artist's corner?

      A drawing!

      I feel a dramatic dum dum duuuuum is in order.

      Done.

      That's why I popped in - expecting to see a carved piece of graphite or something like that.

      Beautiful rendering there. Thank you for posting it!

      That's definitly a valid criticism, and unfortunately it's not just the photo quality. The thing is, when I was making the background, I was in detention for being late to school too many times. My pencil tip broke, and I used a shitty pencil sharpener for my pencil. Basically, the lead was in a really awkward position and left the background (Especially the top left part) light, with a lot of lines. Thanks

      Actually, when I did the drawing, I didn't know who he was. I just looked through a magazine and found his picture. Later, I researched the photographer's work (didn't say the person's name, just the photographer) and found out that the portrait I drew is of Rupert Murdoch.
