Those photographs certainly are more special then stuff the average john doe woul shoot. Still, I have a weird sense of 'just-not-getting-that-magic' when I see them.

Keep up the good work however.

Well, I'm still in college. So I'm still working on my own personal style. Thank you for your comment!

I disagree with Neruo, I think most of them do have a nice style, and I do 'get' them. There are a few which are a bit off; such as the tree one. Personally, I think it was to do with the colour composition. Good work, I look forward to seeing more of it.

Ooh I think the flower picture is my favorite.. I like how the camera focuses on the ones in front and blurs the ones in the back. I'd like to see that technique some more.. it's something I use and I love it!

^I can't take full credit for this one. I took it my first term with my new Nikon and wasn't very skilled with photoshop. My instructor lightened it up for me.

^This was taken at the Fuddruckers in Greensboro, North Carolina when I was visiting my best friend at college.

Nice stuff! I like the docked boats one, I think it's because of the sepia tones. Keep up the good work

Thanks for all the comments you guys.

My digital imaging instructor just gave me an advanced photoshop disc. I'm going to be learning some very cool editing techniques. I try to stay humble about it but I really am very talented with photoshop. Once I get a few lessons done, I'll post the before and afters side by side so you can see how cool photoshop is!

      I'm so excited!

      My idol: www.amydresser.com

Check out her work. Its her online portfolio. Most of her stuff is shown edited then when you put the mouse over the pic, it'll show the before image. It's really awesome.

Hahaha if you have the time, I'd love that! That would be a lot of files being sent! If we do that, I should probably make a CD with all my images I want on the website burned to it, and mail it to you.

Today, well now yesterday, I had a commercial photoshoot. The graphic design students created packaging labels. I photographed their final products.

Out of 315 photographs, I've narrowed it down to a mere 11 that I like best.

Is that one picture at the top (the second to last) a blossom tree?

Think you could get another picture of it? Not like a closeup one but one to where I can pretty much see the whole thing. You dont have to do any special editing or stuff...

Interesting pictures. My dad does photography as well. He works at the local car dealership and photographs all their inventory. Then, for his home business, he does weddings and school pictures. More recently, he's been going to college stadiums and taking pictures of the stadium during football games. He takes several shots, then uses Photoshop to merge them into a 180 degree shot. A lot of them sell continually.

What kind of camera do you use?

Slayer, that picture was taken months ago. Back in May I believe in my On Location class. I don't know what I have for other shots of it, but I can check for you on my back-up files.

      Idec, I use a Nikon D70S.

Nice, I read that it is 6.1 megapixels. My dad would always be talking about megapixels. He had a Nikon Coolpix 995 before and has a Kodak 14n now.

What is it about black and white pictures that gives a nostalgic feeling to them like the picture is of a memory you had? I think I like the viewfinder and the docked boats one the best out of those.

Black and white photography doesnt make me feel nostalgic, it often gives a sense of classic photography... the old days. Because photography started out in black in white.

I just googled what a Coolpix looks like... and its really old looking! My D70S is beautious.

Mega pixels are nothing, all that means is how big the image is before the pixels are stretched when enlarging, thus distorting the image!

Its all about the lens baby!!! Oh and the Aperture and shutter speed and every other manual setting on a camera that takes the good picture, and more importantly the photographers eye for the perfect shot

I have till now thought all your shots have been really good Meghan, however.... I don't feel these pictures

I don't know I think it might be a combination of the lighting and the angles, they just don't jump out at me and look a little bland.. And this is all based on the high standards I know you are capable of BTW based on your other pictures.

I just think in comparison to your other pictures I have seen, these don't do your capabilities justice..... Just my honest opinion.

I agree with the explaination of the quality of the photograph to Idec.

As for these pictures... I showed them today to one of my photography teachers, the one I had for commercial photography, and he thought they were very good. He said that some of them were magazine material. And all of them were portfolio material. So on a professional, commercial level, they are very good. I agree they are bland, but thats only because I was only shooting the products, more or less to document them for the students who created them. I wasn't given props like a real magazine commercial shoot would have. Why do you think I only chose 11 out of 315? Because they were boring. But my teacher who's had many photographs in magazines and such says they're good. So they must be good.

Not my style of photography. I love location photography so much better.

If you are getting told they are very good on a professional, commercial level, then that's pretty much the best you can get to, right? That's awesome. The black and white ones seem to give me that memory feeling. I don't get any more classy feeling out of them than color ones. Meh, just goes to show different things evoke different emotions in different people.

I'll have to ask my dad about the megapixels because he talks about them like they play a crucial role.
