the poem with a rainbow at each end

      Sorrow of sorrows
      I weep for the child
      so pure and so perfect,
      his body defiled.

      his spirit was praying
      as playtime was lost,
      so evil the number
      so great was the cost.

      we suffered together
      as I was once there
      I heard his voice calling
      and answered his prayer.

      I watched as he coloured
      the ocean below
      he never did finish
      and who would he show?

      I covered him softly
      with blankets of care
      stopped time in its tracks
      to count every hair.

      this child was not broken
      for I took his place
      my spirit within him
      stared death in the face.

      I wretched and I writhed
      was twisted and torn
      yet all of this happened
      before I was born.

      If six was the number
      then death was the show
      I struggled and strived
to hold fast through each blow.

It hurt me to take it
      but I suffered not,
      for I held the secret
      to hiding from rot.

      my energy drained
      I sat with him there
      his crying my torment,
      his tears my despair.

      his little white hands
did I lift up with pride,
      I raised up his spirit
      so it could survive.

      day after day,
      and year after year,
      I struggled with apathy,
      blindness and fear.

I watched as my loved ones
      fought fire with fire
      and focused so thoughtless
      on every desire.

      drinking destruction
      and dining on whims,
      the gluttonous creatures
      were picking at stems.

      the roses of beauty
      were buried too deep,
      the mountains of life
      appeared hopelessly steep.

      I scratched at my phobias,
      picked at my fears,
      dissected the motions
      and studied my peers.

      I vomited atrophy
      spewed forth its names,
      gouged out its glamour
      and beat all its games.

      the angel of death
had a place in my heart
it told me to take things
      and tear them apart.

      I pondered the pieces,
      the shreds of lost hope,
      took beauty in doses
      and cut through its rope.

      free from its curses
      I moved through each thread
      I mulled over reasons
      why I should be dead.

      I made it through passion
      and hatred and woe,
to get to the place where
      I know what I know.

      my heart is still bleeding
      my misery great
      for unfortunate children
      that suffer this fate.

      but heaven is calling
      for one special boy
      his toys are here waiting,
      to fill him with joy.

      I've gathered him treasures
      and beauties galore,
      his mansion is built
      and he'll never want more.

      his bed is a garden
      of roses so fair,
      it hasn't a wrinkle,
      I made it with care.

      I'll keep him beside me
      and look in his eyes,
a soul to a soul is where
      love soundly lies.

      a rainbow my heart will
      forever provide,
      a promise of peace
      I can never divide.

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.

Im blown away by your awesome wording!
      however the
      I vomited atrophy
did sound a bit off to me....
nevertheless, the flow was romantic, and I loved the subject. It made me smile, and feel sad at the same time.
