I look in the mirror, And I only see your face. The haunting shadow, You cower from the light. Your eyes, Once diamonds, but are now shards. Shards that tear through the veil Of Morpheus’ world. Embedding themselves in my psyche. I yank one out, smiling at the pain. It hurts… I stare at their reflective surfaces. We all stare back. It hurts… You gently take my hand, And kiss it tenderly. Your touch cuts my skin, your kiss fractures my mind. I love you... You run away, even though I keep bleeding. I run after you, I only chase air. I sit by the brook, where we first met. I try to grab the water to make the memory tangible, but it trickles away through my fingers. Crystal. Crimson. I lie back on the lush grass, And stare at my blue sky. Blue. Scarlet. The razor grass blades, Sear my arms, Releasing my regret and betrayal. I watch them flow away. Away… You stand over me. Impassive your face is. I want to kiss you. Do I? I can’t… Morrigan steps beside you. She pecks you on the cheek. Her eyes are soulless. She hugs you, Her crow wings carry you away. The sun sets, Aurora’s blanket smothers me. I can’t breathe. I can’t see. I can’t see anyone. My necklace, one of a pair. Us. It lies lost now, in my heart, in the deepest, darkest holes of my soul. It lies lost there with you. In life’s great circle, an eternity ring. My memories of you, flutter like leaves in the wind. I try to catch them, My hands grasp only air. I look in the mirror. You walk away in the looking glass. You bastard, how can you leave me? You turn around to say something, But your sweet voice, The voice I cherished, and hear again and again, becomes noise.
