Smile I made a 3D model of my bird (lots of pictures)

I made a 3D model of my bird. it's the first organic model i've ever done in my life, and probably the hardest thing i've ever done in my life too. like i said, it's my first, so don't expect it to be that good.

Also, there was a deadline. 8PM May 28th. The reason is that at 8PM, alfred.tv would do his thursday webcast. at 12:00 AM, Up was released. after that, i wouldn't be able to pay attention to my bird. (yes i checked, alfred was still broadcasting when 12 rolled by)

well, i don't have lightwave on my hackintosh

so i went downstairs to the basement PC
      <insert basement pc here>
here it is. i have yet to put the patches on his neck, chest, and wings.

      in wireframe

i pressed tab to turn on subsurface mode

      quad mode

i turned off subsurface mode because i seen how bad it was with it on

      how do you like it?

he's HUGE! he's 7 feet tall (waaay taller then me)!

I always found UV Mapping the hardest part of the process, modeling and texturing is easy.

Well basically it's when you take the 3D object and make a 2D representation of it, and when you've done that, you can use the UV map to texture the object since you got it mapped out for your texture.

I think hes trying to say that UV mapping is basically adding a skin or texture to your model.

You get an image and sort of 'wrap' it around the model.

      At least I think anyway.

      modeling is easy!?

when i did it, it was the hardest, most tedious thing i've ever done in my life.

i might not even want to try to UV map it. unless i want no hair.

i had to meticulously, delicately arrange tons of DOTs of all things in three dimentions, then select ALL of them, three at a time to join them.
