      Supernova and a DV project

      Pink Floyd
      "Wish You Were Here"
      Wish You Were Here

Supernova: Record yourself singing the song, then send it to me (PM for e-mail)
Guitar: Me, I'll record both guitar parts on the song.
Drummer: To be determined. I'll send you the addition of my guitar playing to the singing of Supernova.
Bass: As above with the Drummer, but with that part already added for you to add onto.

Goal: Complete the song within two months.

Why Supernova? He seems to bear the same passion I have for the song right now. Why Me? Because I just learned the song, and I'm super excited about it.

Ahh, It's cool you two are collaborating with the intention of birthing something beautiful. I look forward to hearing the finalized version when you two have sufficiently dotted your i's and crossed your t's.

I see someone's been reading the 10,000 posts thread

Do I have a passion for the song? Yes, ironically I just learned it myself.

Do I have a singing voice? Uh...not quite sure. I can cover some singers pretty well, as for Roger Waters, I'm not sure. I'll give it my best shot and see how it turns out.
Cool idea though, sort of a DV covers project.

Seems like it'd be a shot in the dark, looking for a drummer on DV (I can't even find one where I live ), but as far as bass goes, I'd say I'm your guy.

Damn, I wish I had my trap set, so I could prove you wrong. :p
If I had any way of recording myself, I would try, but I don't.
Looking forward to this attempt, looks like it could be a great performance. Just make sure everyone's playing the same tempo~

I dunno, I AM a pretty sick bass player...well, according to my guitarist, anyway (which means a lot coming from someone who worships Paul Gilbert). Either way, this song's bassline is woefully simple, so I could care less if someone else would like to step up and claim the bass position.

YouTube Link (SOMEONE SHOW ME HOW TO EMBED PLEASE!)

Am I missing any instruments that we need?

Looks like we're on the way. Sweet. Whenever you're done Supernova, send me a PM for the e-mail to send this to. Then I'll record both guitar parts on top and send that to the bass player (who is this going to be now?). And so on until we hit all the instruments and we have a beautiful song. Then the final result is sent to me, and I'll clean up any noise and add some sort of introduction.

The final product will be up on YouTube after all of this for us to enjoy. I don't know how far this may go, but maybe some more Pink Floyd in the future?

Comfortably Numb would be a great addition to future installments of this project...although it wouldn't hurt to try other bands as well.

As for bass, I say, just go on with recording the guitar parts and stuff, and if by then nobody's stepped up to claim that part, I'll do it.

More importantly is drums. I'd go as far to say that looking for a drummer on DV is like looking for a needle in a haystack. No, more like looking for a specific grain of sand in the Sahara desert.

Sorry I havent checked back in a while. I'm going to be recording on my computer mic tonight and/or tomorrow, and if that goes well I'll see if I can use my friend's uncle's equipment for a good quality recording. I'll warn you though, I'm not so sure how well it will go, as my voice is such that i'd have to sing it either very high or very low.

Irregardless of how this goes, I'm pretty sure I could do a good job on this one.

Cool guys. I'll take a gander at the song "Comfortably Numb" and some other bands for an idea.

Hell if this turns out, and we find a drummer, we can each choose a song and make a DV compilation CD.

I could sing this song with ease.

      I'm back.

I've been damn busy lately. I meant to get you something last night, but I had too much else that I had to do. I'll definately have something for you tonight. It won't be a final product by any means, but It'll be enough to get things going.

      EDIT:
      FML
Tomorrow is Friday. That means absolutely for sure.

      eh, problem

I can't get audacity to record.

So basically I'm working between 4 inputs: microphone FP, digital-in (pretty sure it's not this one), line-in, and microphone. On any of those four, I hear whatever the mic hears come out of the speakers, but when I record on audacity, I get nothing. Any help?

I believe that happened to me once. I think it was the fact that the "line-in" volume was up, so I turned it down and it worked...I think. I'll have to play around with my own Audacity later to see what's really going on.

Maybe something other than Audacity? I can strip audio from a video file easy if you just want to do some webcam thing.

EDIT: Fyi, we're approaching the one month mark.
