Tell me about your energy saving habbits...

... by taking this incredible survey! It's 11 simple questios, just 2 or 3 minutes of your time.

I really need some answers for a school project

I don't know where you live but here there are so few people with more than 21 kids that we usually don't put that option on a survey.

Just a little something. The $ is actually calculated in €, I made a minor mistake.

      Basically €=1,50*$

Sorry, but I can't help but warn you about your survey (we're doing surveys and biases in stats )

Since it's a volunteer survey, you will tend to get more responses from people who have strong opinions about energy conservation - both people who are against the whole movement and those who are trying their best to contribute. This is called a "voluntary response bias".

You'll also get a good deal of "response bias", which is a bias stemming from the way you word your questions - you often say 'what do you do for the environment?", etc. This sort of wording is likely to make people exaggerate their habits in order to seem more well-meaning.

Population sample-wise, the only people you will end up being able to survey are internet users, which could cause undercoverage - maybe internet users tend to be more or less environmentally conscious than the rest of the populace.

Unfortunately, a biased data set is inherently flawed and unsalvageable. Of course, if it's just a school project it probably doesn't matter at all. But if you were really trying to test the market for a new product, I would definitely try to eliminate all of these biases.

I agree, you're going to get a bimodal distribution, not a normal one. It's probably going to be skewed towards the liberal side.

I had a couple problems with the survey.

I've heard the fluorescent bulbs should actually be left on, because they take more energy to turn on than to just stay on, and it wears them out a lot faster, so I usually just leave them on; so therefore I wouldn't want a device to turn them on and off.

There was no "none of the above" for the liberal vs. conservative vs. socialist question.

It is hard to estimate km/l when you are used to mpg.

The best way to save energy is not to breed. Anything else that you do is a drop in the bucket in comparison.

Anyway, good luck on your project.

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Actually we have those at work, so it is already invented. I do RC's when I walk into a room and the light comes on by itself.

Those are movement sensors. Our stuff is slightly different, and should be cheaper, and more inconvenient. Having movement sensors hanging around in the home is uncool, and light can turn off, if you sit still too much.

I would think that you want to make them more convenient, not more inconvenient.
