Tell me your surgery and recovery stories

I'm sitting in my friend's living room with a cat at my feet and a laptop in my lap (they were fresh out of lapdancers), recovering from a septoplasty/turbinectomy/external graft... basically, one notch down from a nose job

The annoying bleeding phase is done, and now I'm in the annoying "not allowed to blow my nose for a month but it's full of musous and blood" phase hehe.

When i was 8 i had my appendix removed. After the surgery it was pretty strange, afterwards it was like i had all the energy drained out of me and the best way i can describe it was like being a decreped old person. (No offense to old people)

hmm.. where should i start. I had 3 surgical operations as my teeth were frigged up when i was 9 yrs old, i had overcrowding. Before and after each surgery was horrible, i had a fear of getting put to sleep in case of waking up in the middle of it.

In another few years i might have to get jaw surgery...holy crap.. and my sister has to get surgery soon because of a sinuse which is very close to her brain, and this is leading to a lack of oxygen to the brain.. yip

I had surgical reconstruction of my little finger . I honestly think amputation would've been less of a hastle... Anyways, it was bandaged up and in a splint for a few months, I predict terrible arthritis...

I had my appendix removed when I was 8. Prior to the surgery, I was throwing up all day long and couldn't even stand up. I went up the hospital, and within 10 minutes was being rushed into surgery because my appendix was leaking poison into my body. I had to stay in the hospital for a week to recover because of it.

This is actually my third time getting surgery. This was probably the best anesthesia yet though Usually, I feel the heaviness come in as they pump it in. This time was different. This time, I got it in three phases. First, a "cocktail" to take off the edge, then a slightly better one (once I was in the OR), and then she just said here it comes, and I was out in a blink or two.

I had my gallbladder removed about two years ago. ( At age 14-15, which is rare for it to be taken out that early. )

I had so many tiny stones that they stopped counting around 70. But, yeah. It was very minor surgery. Poked 7 holes in my abdomen, and gave me some vicodin. Which I rarely even took. high pain tolerance, I suppose.

I assume we are talking about surgeries we have some memory of. So I'll discount some surgeries i had when i was born.

Well I've only had one surgery actually and it was really small. Basically i have an incomplete set of 3rd teeth. Unfortunately they were getting in the way of my second teeth coming down properly and so it was making my mouth a mess( while it didn't really but the point was it would have done). So went under and they removed three pretty large and thin teeth. They said the rest were in harmless positions.

Also a few years back doctors recommended i go under anesthetic so they could break both my hips, my knee caps, shins and ankles. Basically because the bones in both my legs are twisted slightly inward. You really can't notice it externally but they said it is likely the cause of my weak ankles( i couldn't walk until 5) and occasional bad leg pains( very occasional mind). Basically they said I'd get better at running/sports and would prevent any pains in the future. However i haven't had any for two years and the operation would leave me in a wheelchair for ages so i declines.

They did my sinuses, I had blood as tears for 4 days and couldn't sleep a second. And a fat ugly skank woke me up at 7AM. And stuff that looked like tar came out of my nose the following weeks.

I had a little cut made in my gums to allow an adult tooth easier passage at age 12 or something. I was really rude to the doctor while in the process of passing out. When I woke up, no one was around, so I got outta bed and walked into the hallway all zombie-like. I was then rushed back to my bed by some very nervous nurses. It was really fun. I then thought I was smiling, but in fact just half of my mouth was smiling.
