Usually when I see important people who answer in interviews or who are publically speaking the rarely say umm... or any filler words. How do these people do this? |
|
It's a bit of both. Saying "umm" is a bad public speaking practice, and something that's covered in anything meant to help you get better at public speaking. Presumably, those guys are pretty good at that stuff and will prefer to have a silent pause, rather than an "um". |

lmao most people don;t, you ever watched BBC news? " urrr, urrrr urrrrm president...Bush.. went to urm.. Iran to meet....delegates on the nuclear issue, he staying at urm. ( some Iranian guys place) and he's having a great time! Lets go to our correspondent....Matt..hew Brown for more. |

Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!
Yeah the common practice is to pause and not say anything instead of saying "umm." It takes some practice to perfect that though, cuz it seems more comfortable to mutter something as opposed to nothing. But it's better to pause. |

Wasn't there a video on youtube about some sportscaster who totally fumbled his segment recently? |
