      Tell me about Compulsions

Whenever I'm in a depression so deep I can no longer feel anything at all (not even through self-injury)... or if I'm coming out of such a depression, I am compelled to shave my head.
But because such is more than NOT socially acceptable, lol, I just chop off a lot of it (normally to just below my ears).
And once I cut my hair, I feel almost reborn... refreshed, at peace.

      WHY?

Do y'all have any compulsions? What do you do about them? How do they effect you?

I was depressed a few years back. In those days I had very long hair that I hadn't cut for years. Getting it cut was a great way to feel like a new person, and it helped separate me from the past. It could be a very healthy compulsion.

Hm... I am compelled to poke ideas I disapprove of. I can never let them lie. I find myself inviting JWs into my home and that kind of thing just because I can't quite accept that people can be so sure of something that they have no way to convince me of. It bothers me.

I am compelled to think. I shall always be an ever-cogitating man

haha, Clockwork. That is, indeed, a GOOD compulsion

lol, Apachama, did you know I AM one of JW's and are subtly poking fun at me?
Either way, no offense and you made me smile... What other types of things do you poke at?

I guess one of the things that "pokes" me, is driving by boxes or large bags in the middle of or on the side of the road. Part of me is always CERTAIN the box or bag has the body of an animal or baby in it. I have that compulsion thanks to some show I watched as a kid and it has stayed with me. In the past, I used to actually stop the car and take a closer look, or circle back to have a second look... now-a-days, I MAKE myself ignore them, but I'm left wondering for the rest of the day.

Zhaylin, I must have seen a similar show or newscast because I have the same thoughts when I see a bag or box on the side of the road (tho I've never stopped and checked)
