Tell Me About The Best Classical Music

I've found that listening to classical music helps me to relax and focus when I need to (maybe because it's well-ordered and organized without too much extra, although honestly I have no idea why). I'm new to this, but I already have a liking for music from the Enlightenment/ The actual Classical Period. So far I've downloaded some Mozart and Haydn, but since I don't know this music very well, I would like anyone who does to tell me the names of a few essential pieces I ought to listen to.

Entertainment~ There will never be a 'best' music. Being one of the most subjective arts, we don't have a lot to go on. Bach, Mozart, etc are obvious musts to listen to. I've actually been listening to Vivaldi (Four Seasons) lately. Out of curiosity, have you ever taken musical lessons of any sort?

You're right about the word 'best,' my mistake. I'm just hoping to get a basic foundation of key Classical Period music together, so that I can branch off from there. And yes, I've been playing clarinet in my school band for a few years now. But I'm under no illusions. I'm a mediocre musician, and I'm the first to admit it (no grasp of music theory, tone deaf too).

One of the main aspects about classical music is the technicality of it all. More often than not, you can hear real displays of skill and musical strength, as opposed to hooks and catchy beats in more recent music. I'm not dissing it, it's simply less important to be well skilled to be a good musician in the last few years. (no grasp of music theory, tone deaf too) Ouch :x Also, there's a couple different timelines here. Are we looking at Baroque? Modern? Romantic? All of the above? And I'm still not sure what this thread is for, should I just namedrop all my favorite classical composers?
