Tell Me About "Half-Life" PC Games

Hey guys, I was interested in getting a Half-Life game, and I saw I think it was at IGN.com that "Half-Life 2" recieved a 9.7 rating and that interested me to play. However, when I went to my source to buy the game I found out there's like 100's of different ones! (not literally) And I'm trying to figure out, which one should I buy? Should I start from the beginning and work my way through all of them? Is it 1 HUGE story, or are there individual stories? Should I just buy the latest one for the best entertainment experience? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

All of Half-Life is connected. From Half-Life all the way to Half-Life 2: Episode 2. You'll want to start with Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, and then Portal or Half-Life 2: Episode 2. I suggest playing Portal first, as it is also apart of the Half-Life storyline. I also recommend playing Half-Life: Opposing Force. You don't HAVE to start with Half-Life, so you can just pick up The Orange Box (5 games for the price on one! NO WAY!) which comes with Half-Life 2, Portal, Episode 1 and Episode 2 + Team Fortress 2. But yeah, it starts with Half-Life 2, then Episode 1 then Episode 2 + Portal
