An interesting new technique that I (with a friend)developed

First things first, you need real-life friends to help you (which I'm sure all of you have!)

Second, I recommend buying DMAE from your local GNC, very healthy stuff for the brain, trying to LD or not.

Third, your gonna need some wacky colored paper, but i think white would work.

      And fourth, a sharpie.

Now, where is all this going? Right here. Take your sharpie and write (very largely) YOU ARE DREAMING on the paper. (Or something to that effect)
Give this to your friend. The idea here is for him to put this somewhere that later on it will surprise you. Here's how it worked for him. I took the sign and put it on his bathroom door of his house. We had been hanging out all day and earlier that week we had chatted about this. Around 10pm he went to the bathroom and was like "huh?? am i dreaming?!"

We did this for 2 days and even though he knew about the sign, it still made him wonder. After those two days, he took 3 or 4 DMAE's before bedtime. That night he told me he had a LD. Why? Because he saw a pink sign that said "Hey, You're Dreaming" on a wall in his dream.

From what I can tell, your brain remembers this and expects it. It also wants to do RCs to make sure its not being deceived.(sp?) You are now working with your brain and not against it to attain an LD. I am officially starting this method today, and I hope I get the same results.

That actually sounds like a good technique. I'd do it, but my family would think I'm weird and my mom is a neat freak so a sign that I put anywhere would annoy her.

      Sounds excellent.
.......Then I think of my youth and of my first love-when the longing of desire was strong. Now I long only for my first longing. What is youth? A dream. What is love? The substance of a dream.

i think the idea is that you wont know when to expect it(as you would if you placed it personally), and you wont expect it where you see it-am i right?

I can imagine it working I guess - it gets a response from you deeper than you normally would have

To my knowledge, you cannot read in dreams.. never really tried to read in a dream myself, but I know it's cause one side of your brain basically shuts off, and the side that does is the side for reading.

It depends on the person. Some people can read in dreams, some can't. Just like how some people dream in color and some don't...

      Hey everyone, TODAY'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

Well anyway...contrary to my user id thingy, i have now had 2 more LDs using this method, which is great. Now, whether or not I try, I automatically have 1 LD every 2 weeks! I think it has something to do with my brain getting used to them, I dunno.

To answer Dj0s, DMAE is an extremely healthy supplement that I guess you could say works similar to ginseng. Basically it decreases the interference between neurons in the brain....now, in english, this means your brain works better, and you're sharper. It keeps you on your toes mentally...mind you, YOU ARE NOT WIRED...which is good. You can pick up a bottle of 60 or so at GNC for like $7.50...

I'm really glad everyone likes the SILD method ! If anyone tries this out, please let us know your results.

happy birthday and, thats a really cool technique. I wish I could try it but I dont think i could convince my girlfreind to go around hiding signs in her house!

Anyway it made me think...I have heard of a few people have regualr dreams about being on a computer or playing videogames, you could take to same idea and make a program that randomly flashes "You are dreaming" on the screen at some point during the day.

its a very cool idea, im going to put a twist on it by getting my mate to just ask me if im dreaming at random intervals, last year i had been talking to this guy at school and he was very sceptical about lding so everytime i say him i asked him if he was dreaming, then one day he told me that he had drempt of me asking him if he was dreaming, sadly he did not pick up the cue and continues to be a sceptic to this day.

Sounds like a good idea - cheap and simple too! In a similar, but more expensive, vein my partner (who is a lucid dreamer too - and fortunately understands my obsession) is geting me a ring engraved that says 'dreaming?'. She also has a subliminal message program for her computer that can be programmed to blip whatever messages you want - available from www.thinkrightnow.com.

From my experience, when I try to read like a book or something, it's hard as hell to stay focused. But large signs and stuff are fine.

      Heh, good idea sme_bro.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I already wrote one recently
Mainly because the free ones didn't do the job very well.
Don't think I tried the one that slim posted there... Is it completely free, Slim? And it works okay?

The thread for the program I wrote, is here : http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4641

It was free and works fine, that is, the software works fine - not sure if the subliminal stuff really gets in though. I should try an experiment, but I'm sure that when my dreams are influenced by the day's events (as opposed to a memory, karmic influences or just pure in the moment awareness) then its normally the big things that get in first, like seeing something nasty on the news, and my dream mind then takes it from there. Perhaps the subliminals rely on repetition, but I'm not on my computer often enough to get that.

btw - have been trying the paper messages thing with my partner for the past week, leaving "Are you dreaming?" or "You ARE dreaming" notes in weird places to be discovered by the other (like in the fridge). No conclusive evidence that it's increasing lucidity, but I'm not sleeping well at the moment, so its not a fair test. I feel it should help. Actually I've had dreams recently where I'm telling people about lucid dreaming or even how to do reality checks, and I still havent gone lucid! I guess its just a blank patch.

I can read big signs in my dreams but small things like digital clocks I cannot. So a big sign like that would probably work. I read in another post(don't rmember where) that someone has that on there screensaver"Are you dreaming???" and in thier dream they read it and became lucid.

WOW...it's been a VERY VERY long time since I posted, and I apologize for this. The reason I am postin gin this old old thread is because I found a slightly better way to use this method, and I think It'll help you.
For those of you that go to school. Write the words "Are you dreaming?" on a bunch post-its. Put em everywhere...random book pages, yur locker, wherever.
Even for those that don't go to school, you can utilize this as well. (And you to school kids) Put these post-its around yur house, wherever. I realized that the idea here isn't to surprise, but to recollect. I don't even think its necessary to perform an LD each time you see one, but I'm sure it'll help.
This way, if you explore your school/house/work/car in your dreams, you'll 'expect' to see a yellow post-it, which should at least remind you of the ones in waking life, if not cause you to perform a RC. If anyone finds this helpful, please, let me know...I'm really interested in this.

ITS GOOD TO BE HERE AGAIN!!!

You can use computer alarm programs, but these don't really have a 'random' feature, unfortunately.

      Great technique though, comrade!
