Picking up where i left off

      Hi everyone,
This is my second account on this awesome forum and my third (possibly fourth) post. About 10 months ago i got really into trying to lucid dream, i achieved one 10 second lucid dream after about a month of keeping a dream journal, reality checks, repeated mantras and lying still before sleep. I left it for about three months then as i had to prep for exams. After picking it up again on march the 5th, i managed to achieve a dawning awareness type lucid dream on the 24th of march. It was like i had a suspicion i was dreaming in one dream which carried over to the next and resulted in me doing a reality check (pushing my finger through my palm) and realising i was asleep, unfortunately i needed the toilet so bad (lol ) that i woke up within seconds of realising i was dreaming. I also didnt have total control and things were a bit blurry. About a month after this success i had to stop trying again so that i could focus on exam preparation. Now its three or more months since my original successes and i really want to pick up where i left off. Is that even possible though? I have seven weeks till college starts and i would really love to have some success in that time. So my question is, what are the best ways to get back into lucid dreaming quickly and what are the most successful techniques?

Of course it is possible and that's what you may never forget: A lot in the learning process is about confidence! If you believe it then you can do it. Doubts can be your biggest enemy if you want to try having lucid dreams.

Concerning the techniques you might want to use: There are so many of them and you simply have to find your way. Which techniques have worked best for you so far? Maybe you should proceed with them and stick to a routine. Personally I really like ADA as a solid base for increasing the frequency of your lucid dreams. You might want to read this: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...kingyoshi.html
Have you tried WBTB especially in combination with other techniques like MILD? WBTB is really good to improve your dream recall. It is also really important to never skip a day in your dream journal. The more dreams you record the more familiar you will become with your dreams! and that in return is another important factor in becoming lucid... The better you know your dreams the easier it will be to tell the difference between dream and reality.

I hope I was able to help you a little If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Indeed it is possible to pick up where left off, if one was lucid once it's generally easier to do it again, i've seen people returning from longer periods, also to add, if you have time, you can try napping, naps are golden for lucid dreaming.

There are only two types of inductions for lucid dreaming and the rest is just variations of these two.

WILD - Direct Induction - Going from the waking state to the dream world without losing awareness in between (well atleast only a brief moment)
DILD - Indirect Induction - Attaining awareness in the dream world by the dreamworld.

I got tons of different ideas and theories, and I usually say what a longterm focused person who want to master lucid dreaming to the EXTREME should hear.

But since you just want some fast success here is what I recommend.

WBTB is something that statistically have a high success rate and I could also explain this but to save time I will just tell you what you need to do, but please ask if you want to know more about why it is effective etc. WBTB is not an induction by the way, it's just makes DILD and WILD easier.

This is what I do which gives me a few short lucid moments each week and from time to time a long vivid experience:

      1. Fall asleep by clearing your mind, mentally tell yourself to let go of all stress. (But basically just fall asleep).
      2. Set an alarm to wake you up 6 hours later.
      3. Turn off the alarm, make a few jumping jacks or some pushups and then just go back to sleep. (Stay up longer if you want, I prefer going back to sleep immediatelly.)
      4. If you wake up imagine some familiar kienstethic feeling such as holding your phone, pulling down a doorhandle and if you can really feel it, just move and get up!
You are in most cases in the dreamworld by now.
      5. If you don't wake up you are still more likely to have a DILD compared to if you did not used the WBTB.

Simple and effective. This is not even a routine of mine, it's just something I regularly do automaticaly and I just breaked it down into inductions and methods.

      Good luck!
