      I can’t do a WILD

      I can’t do a WILD
I read about LDing and have had a few LDS but after hours of meditation all I got was a shock in one of my fingers. Is that the start of a WILD? Is there a way for beginners to start?

WILD is pretty hard to do. I'm also trying to learn it and I've succeeded only once recently. Seeker has written a great tutorial about WILD. I recommend you take a look at it as there's a lot of useful tips and tricks.

i tried it twice yesterday...im not sure but i think i came close...is it like.. harder on the first time?
even though i still need to first induce my dream recall i wanna do it...maybe itll help in improving my dream recall...

well the first time i went further...i just laid down in bed...eyes started feeling weary... then after a while i started feeling numb on my chest.. like some kind of darkness had laid down on it.. then it spreaded to my arms. and up to my fingers.. then it started going to my legs very slowly... then i started telling myself ''i WILL remember this dream, i will remain concious during it'' it was pretty easy to keep my mind on that phrase but sometimes it went a little funny and i said something else... then i started seeing some light patterns...not bright light but still...i was thinking to myself.. ''this must be the hypnagogic imagery..the sounds will start soon'' i waited.. i waited..and waited.. like going deeper and deeper and back and deeper and back again... stuck in that one phase... then i saw (?) or it was just my mind. thoughts... elephants... tiny little colourful elephants... the colours of rainbow-.. then out of nowhere jumps out some kind of crown... it looked like some kind of thing that the pope would wear... i went to a deeper stage.. i could feel it in my head... and just a little deeper...
i had hard time keeping my eyes closed... and one bit deeper... then i got stuck in the same phase again.. i was just thinking.. 'cmon..audio NOW...paralyze body NOW' then i suddenly opened my eyes and i went to the bathroom.. my body felt weird and it was a little hard to stay up... then going back to bed... i couldnt keep my eyes closed.. at the stairs i saw something like the fuzziness of a tv screen when closed or something..it got brighter and clearer all the time.. i was hurrying to bed cause i thought i was gonna pass out and i didnt feel like passing out on the stairs...all the time i got closer to my bed it got thicker and clearer.. and when i laid down it disappeared.. and one another try at WILD...i thought it would be easier this time.. it wasnt.. it was harder...my body didnt go even nearly as numb as earlier... i read some stuff about the WILD technique and things like that...then i just felt too tired to try it again and i changed position and fell asleep remembering not even a slight fragment of any dreams during the night...
will try again today...have a 6 hours sleep before trying it this time...

im sorry for the lenght of the post...

Are you sure you weren't in dream already when you opened your eyes and went to bathroom.

When I tried WILD for one of the first times I had a same kind of experience. I saw light patterns and stuff, then I opened my eyes and thought I was awake because everything was so real. I think it's very easy to not realize when the dream starts when you're learning WILD. Even though you would be conscious all the time - I was when that happened.

Ugh! WILDs nevr seem to work for me. I have tired it twice, and every every every single time i dont rememeber my dreams for the night.NOw that wouldnt be so unusal for a perosn with O.K. dream recall, but mine is sually awsome. I remebr my dreams like they were real events that just happeneeed hours erailer. But when ever I try a WILD I remember nothing. Maby threre is a way to get around this?

one more detail i remember about last night..On the second try, after opening my eyes again, i heard this beeping sound. It kind of distracted my try. I couldn't focus on what I was trying to do. But after it didn't go away even after being totally certain that i didnt go asleep and the method didn't work i got pissed. And it was real, i wrote the exact time of the beeping on my table with a marker and it was there in the morning. So after the second try I just went to sleep.

The pinching nose RC has never failed to me so I think if you couldn't breath you were awake.

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe after having more success with DILD's it might make doing a WILD easier because of the experiencing of that frame of mind.

You guys are lucky! I can start the begining of a WILD and then I get to into the hypno imagery adn forget what I was repeating The farthest Ive goten was to the flashes of light part. Ive been trying WILD for three days and Think Ill keep at it. I think you should give it one more try.

Folks, please don't give up. WILD can be hellishly difficult for some people. Others get it right away.

It took me three months before my first one and then about a month after that for my second one. Even now, after practice, my success rate is still very low.

Yeah! & somewhat I kind of wish I could do DILDs like you guys can, but the only way I can sleep at night is to use WILD, or get insomnia!

yeah I find it pretty damn hard to WILD, I havent succeded yet

I always seem to relax very quickly and start to see imagery but i get stuck there...

today the imagary became VERY vivvid and my body started to become numb so i knew I was about to go into the transistion phase and started saying, I am dreaming, I am dreaming, I am...., but everytime I felt like I was getting somewhere I would like breath weirdly or something. I never felt SP come in so I knew I was just liek stuck in the early stage of the Transistion. Any ideas on how to transistion easier (and yes ive tired stuff that the tutorial has said)

I'm one of the members whose majority of LDs are from WILDS but my success at WILDing is very hit and miss.
Out of 8 attempts, I may get 4 successes (but those successes are so worth the effort)!
