      No Christmas present for me.

I began looking into and experimenting with lucid dreaming or achieving lucidity a little less than a week ago. Seems like really cool stuff. I'm a computer programmer and often referred to as a "hacker", so I find all of this incredibly fascinating. The mind is for sure a computer system, and the information I've been reading regarding lucid dreaming is the closest thing I've ever seen to a "manual for the brain".

Every night I've gone to sleep within the last week I've been attempting to fall into a state of sleep paralysis and take it from there. I've got my indirect techniques down and seem to be catching onto this fairly well. I'm an instant gratification junkie, so as far as what I've been reading sleep paralysis is the easiest way to enter a lucid dream, short of waking up in the middle of the night and attempting to even remember what I'm supposed to do when I wake up.

Last night I was laying in bed on my back with my hands over one another on my stomach attempting to keep from directly focusing on anything. I was building a scene of the last time I took my kids to the beach to go swimming. My legs always seem to go numb, and I've heard vibrations a few times so last night I kind of focused on my legs falling asleep while building the scene, and that numbness started spreading. I was thinking, "ok it's working let's do this". I was narrating to myself what was happening, identifying and labeling what was going on. Just as my whole body went numb and I started feeling like I was sinking into my bed, I had decided that I was going to try wiggling and it felt like my range of motion was improving. That's when my 4 year old daughter rolled over and slapped me in the face.

They were sleeping in bed with us so they wouldn't wake up and scare Santa away.

      haha

I'd swear the SP was right there within a few seconds and if I didn't get slapped in the face at that moment I'd have probably been able to roll out of bed or stand up as soon as I guess when I knew it was 100% set in.

I wasn't rushing anything. It just started clicking.

She just rolled over and her hands hit my face, it wasn't like she slapped me on purpose. She's only 4 afterall.

But for some people it works I, for one, can get into a state of SP without pre-sleep fairly quickly. There's always this threshold to get over though. When I get to bed (and I want this to happen), there's this numbness setting in, which goes on to the point where it becomes kinda uncomfortable. If I can get myself past that point without moving it's full on SP straight away

This, however, doesn't mean I can get into a lucid from that point easily Because without pre-sleep, it just takes too long. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong:p
      Are you dreaming?

      In that order!

if you aren't expereincing audio or visual halucinations and you can easily break the paralysis then you're probably not in it. It should be easy to enter a lucid dream from sleep paralysis
