      Get myself to Test!!!

Hey, I'm new here, I found out about Lucid Dreaming yesterday and about this site and I really wan't to have this experience. But, when I dream I don't know how to get myself to check if it's a dream or not. I just do whatever, or I think. Does anyone know what I mean and know how to help?

Welcome to the forum, samf. Well, those are called Reality Checks (RCs). If you seriously want to find out, try pinching yourself, or wishing for an ice cream cone. If you feel no pain, or an ice cream cone appears, then you'll know!!

      Hi Sam,

I'm new here too. From the little bit of reading that I did, I think the best way is to start doing it periodically when you are awake. After a while you'll just get used to doing it and it will be easier to do in your dreams.

Anyone more experienced please correct me if I'm on the wrong track here, but I think that's how it usually works.

Basically, periodically do reality checks during the waking hours. And keep a dream journal, to help your dream recall. Then you can go on to stuff like finding your dreamsigns, and trying different techniques for inducing LDs like MILD and WILD.

(sorry if this seems like bumping up a topic, I wasn't able to check up on thsi topic for a while)

the only thing for me is, when I dream. It's like me watching a movie. only sometimes it's first person, sometimes it's 3rd.

unless you're saying if you do reality checks everyday, you'll just automatically do a reality check in your dream.
