Would my dream sign be effective?

I decided to use an interval timer website. and make a sound come up ever 20 minutes. When the sound plays I look at my hands and ask if I'm dreaming, then I look around and wonder how I got here. Do you think this would be effective when it comes to lucid dreaming? The point of this is to maybe make myself get used to doing reality checks when I hear this beeping sound (Maybe I'll hear the sound randomly while dreaming) and then I'll start doing reality checks frequently without the use of the timer. Either that or play the sound while I'm asleep, but I'm afraid it'll wake me up. Sadly I only hear the beep sound when I'm in front of my computer which is an issue. So what do you think?
