Here is a preset I made up last night that produced 2 WILDs for me while waiting to fall asleep, and then woke me up at strategic points during the night, allowing me to recall an additional 5 dreams.
As no 2 people are alike, and as the sleep patterns of even a single person can vary greatly from night to night, I can offer no guarentee that this present will work for anyone else but myself, but I will guarentee that you can learn a lot about the Brainwave generator program and how to improve on your own presets by attempting to follow these steps and building your own custom preset if you have not already experimented with these settings.
Below is the first tab of the preset:
As you can see it is very simple, uses the Gushing River for the background sound, and has a length of 120 minutes.
Here's the sound tab:
This is also fairly simple and follows and does the following: Raises the binaural beats from 2 to 20 at 60 to 66 minutes, from 20 to 30 at 75 to 81 minutes, from 30 to 40 at 90 to 96 minutes, from 40 to 50 at 105 to 111 minutes, then stays at 50 for the duration of the preset.
As you can see the audible pitch remains constant during this preset, which really makes no difference, since in this preset I am not even listening to the binaural beats as I have selected zero volume. I am merely use these binaural settings to regulate a helicopter sound that I will show you later. You can add these in if you like by selecting something other than zero volume here.
Now on to the Background tab:
This tab sets the background noise (Gushing River from the first tab) to half volume and sets the Background Shift Phase to Right 250 ms ahead, although you might want to try one of the others to experiment with them. This basically causes the sounds on the right and left sides to occur at different times rather than together.
Now for the Noise tab, which is the tab that creates the sounds:
The first page of this tab is easy. Just select user defined, then select 25 percent. and Pink Noise for the Noise Smoothness.
Now for the complicated part.
Click on the Modulation button at the top right and then select User Defined, and you will see the following screen.
Set the Noise Modulation Depth to 90.
Then, under the Noise Modulation Period click on the Track another parameter checkbox and select Binaural Beat Frequency.
Now to the right of that combo box click the optical button and you will receive the following dialog box in which you will want to specify something like the following:
From 2 to 50 in the top box.
From 525 to 50 in the bottom box.
Notice the inverse relationship between these two numbers as the helicopter sound you are creating with this works just the opposite of the binaural beats with the sound going very slow with the large number of 525, and going very fast with a small number like 50.
Also, notice the Noise Modulation Phase setting at the bottom of 180 degrees out of phase which causes the sounds to occur at different times on the two sides you are listening to.

To quickly test your new preset, go to the first tab and change the 120 minutes to 1 minute, then play it to see what adjustments you might want to make. Then change it back to 120 or whatever length you wish it to play for when you are finished.
That's about all there is to this one. Hopefully this will show you some of the different things you can use in creating your own presets. I will guarentee you that if you can learn to create your own programs with this program that you will be able to create programs every bit as effective, and probably more effective than the commercial programs you would buy, as you will be able to adjust them to your own particular needs. I'm not associated with Brainwave Generator in any way other being a registered user, but the more I use this program, the more fascinated I am with all the things it is capable of doing.
The way I use this preset is that once it wakes me up, hopefully while I am dreaming, I get up, record my dream, then start it back over again at the start. When recording my dream I also make a note of how far into the preset it was, which is usually either 60 minutes, 75 minutes, or 90 minutes, although sometimes when sleeping very soundly I will go clear past the 2 hour mark before waking up.
Hopefully I didn't leave out any steps. If I did I'm sure you will let me know.
Happy dreaming.
