Great WILD explanation from Rtex ^_^

I was talking to Rtex tonight asking about WILD and he gave me a great explanation ont he procedure, that i thought hadn't realy been done anywhere else very well... Well' here it is:

      Session Start (AIM - jojodi7:Rtex11): Mon Jan 26 22:04:40 2004
      Rtex11: Yeah
      Rtex11: And you are?
      Jojodi7: jojodi... from the board
      Jojodi7: are u a wild expert?
      Rtex11: I suspected as much
      Rtex11: Lol
Rtex11: Sorry, I'm out of it tonight
      Rtex11: Yes
Jojodi7: im tryin it for the first time tonight...can u give me some pointers?
Rtex11: Ok, I have a few questions first
      Jojodi7: sure
Rtex11: Are you good at visualizing things?
      Jojodi7: sure
      Rtex11: Wonderful
      Jojodi7: ^_^
Rtex11: and have you ever tryed meditating?
      Jojodi7: yes.. a little
      Jojodi7: just for relaxation
      Rtex11: Eihh, better than nothing
      Jojodi7: heh
Rtex11: Now, how much do you know about WILDS?
Jojodi7: just some stuff i read ont he forums on basic induction and from an FAQ
Rtex11: Ok so you know the best time for doing it is after 4-6 hours of sleep right?
      Jojodi7: yes
      Jojodi7: is more ok?
      Rtex11: Sure
Jojodi7: or is that too much
Rtex11: the longer you sleep the quicker you enter REM sleep
      Jojodi7: cool
      Jojodi7: i slept 8 this last day
Rtex11: Theres two ways that i've found
      Jojodi7: OK.
Rtex11: One is more of a beginner way
Jojodi7: can u tell me both?
Rtex11: and the other is a little harder, but better
      Rtex11: sure
      Rtex11: Number one
Rtex11: Have some sort of quiet noise in the background
      Rtex11: a fan, soft music
Jojodi7: when i first wake up
      Jojodi7: ?
Rtex11: When your trying to wild
      Jojodi7: ok
Rtex11: Something you can concentrate on
      Jojodi7: sure
      Rtex11: preferably white noise
Rtex11: You know what white noise is right?
      Jojodi7: lol yes.. proceed
      Rtex11: Awesome
Rtex11: Oh and btw, My name is Joel
      Jojodi7: brandon
Rtex11: Anyhow, if you have some kind of noise going, its easier to stay awake and focus on it
      Jojodi7: ok
Rtex11: Which is a problem most people encounter
Rtex11: However, if you have noise going, lucidity tends to be less stable.
Rtex11: Not as solid, if you will
      Jojodi7: ok
Rtex11: But w/o noise, its harder to get to the dreaming state
      Jojodi7: ok
Rtex11: My advice, would be to start with noise going
Rtex11: and then gradually use it less and less
      Jojodi7: ok
      Jojodi7: cool.. go on
Rtex11: Anyhow, to the actual process
Rtex11: You've seen hypnogogic imagery right?
Jojodi7: ..please explain what exactly that is
      Jojodi7: i think i have an idea
      Rtex11: ok
Rtex11: Have you ever looked at a bright light
Jojodi7: is it when u have your eyes closed and you see things in the blacknes?
Rtex11: then looked away and closed your eyes?
      Rtex11: you see multi-colored stuff. . .
      Jojodi7: ya
Jojodi7: what i said.. is that also it?
Rtex11: Thats basicly what it is
      Jojodi7: ok.. cool go on
Rtex11: The most important thing, which also doubles as the hardest thing, is to observe it, but not get attached to it
      Jojodi7: just watch it?
Rtex11: What I mean by attached is that sometimes when you see a picture, you get too "into" it, and it goes away
Jojodi7: ya i know exactly what u mean
Rtex11: Usually it starts out with something simple
Jojodi7: that doesnt sound so hard
      Rtex11: Like dots
      Jojodi7: ya
      Rtex11: or blocks
Jojodi7: i see people and things all the time
Rtex11: Gradually it gets more complex
      Rtex11: Right
      Jojodi7: cool
Rtex11: Eventually it evoles into entire scenes
      Jojodi7: keep going
Rtex11: But everything is still unclear like a mirage
Jojodi7: im sorry (im sick) im going to get some water really quick.. keep explaining
Rtex11: This is the worst time, because you can see the dream, but you are also aware of your physical body
      Rtex11: Ok
Rtex11: Just be patient and don't try to make anything happen
Rtex11: Eventually everything will start to clear up, and you'll be dreaming.
Rtex11: Be careful that you remember to know that your dreaming
Rtex11: its easy to forget when your concentrating on other stuff
Rtex11: What I just explained is one way people enter dreams, but not everyone transitions the same way
      Jojodi7: ok
Rtex11: For me, I see the imagery
      Jojodi7: thanx for keeping on
      Rtex11: np
      Jojodi7: (i hate colds ^_^)
Jojodi7: do u do it every night?
Rtex11: then all of the sudden, I feel like I'm flying/falling in zero gravity
Rtex11: then its like a 4 inch screen, then BOOM 50 inch tv screen
      Rtex11: then Wham! real life
      Jojodi7: cool ^_^
Rtex11: thats the closest I can come to explain what happens
      Rtex11: Its very sudden
      Rtex11: and jarring
Jojodi7: it like zooms in closer?
Rtex11: more like, explodes into a bigger screen
      Jojodi7: wow

Thanks to jojodi and rtex for this very informative post! Just wish I could get the hang of it! All I've got for my efforts so far are big bags under my eyes the next morning!

I've been LDing for awhile now (with only one full LD), maybe a year and I still haven't tried WILD. But this is honestly the most well-explained technique that I've ever heard. Maybe I'll try it tonight.

hmm maybe I will try it again after reading this. But I am wondering something... Are the LD's between WILD MILD and just plain LD's different? Like do they feel different or are they about the same?

Cannot answer from personal experience, but I am 95% sure that an LD is an LD, regardless of how you induce it.

Maybe one of you WILD ones can answer for sure??

I'd say in general an LD is an LD. The only difference for me is that my WILD's have been at a higher lucidity level because I go in conscious and am able to maintain that level of consciousness better. Sometimes though I am too concsious of my RL surroundings and I wake up earlier than I would like because of something like the A/C coming on or a creaking noise from the house - things that normally wouldn't wake me up.
