I find the best way to be lucid...

I find the best way to be lucid...

      is to deny lucidity.

Wait, I'm not crazy. Ok maybe a little, but not about this.

I find that conscious thoughts like, "This is a dream" and "I am dreaming" tend to diminish lucidity, diminish clarity, and are an express ticket out of the dream. This is probably a natural reaction of the brain, although that theory is based upon some squiggles I drew.

Stay with me... the squiggles look nice, but are not the point. Don't look at them.

I have also found that whenever such a thought want to manifest itself, suppressing it and forgetting about leads to longer lucid dreams and doesn't diminish clarity.

Come to think of it, generally suppressing heightened conscious thoughts leads to longer lucidity.

Yes you can be lucid in a dream without being actively conscious (we go most of the day without being "actively" conscious)...

If that makes one iota of sense...

i find alot of what you said, not true...

Specially the 2 facts about Denying Lucidity..

If you search Lucid Dreaming, your bound to find something stating along the lines about Dream Journals and Dream Recall-well shit- those are givens...

Dream Recall is for memorizing dreams so you can try to get Lucid...So what good would Dream Recall be if you decided not to think about Lucid Dreaming....

Also a Dream Journal is part of Lucid Dreaming and Dream Recall..so what good is a Dream Journal, if you wont think about Lucid Dreaming which leads to not thinkin about Dream Recall...

      You see what I mean....

the point being here is...Your not going to get anywhere LUCIDITY wize if you tell yourself not to think about it...Ive stopped writing in my dream journal for a few weeks now, and since then, my Dream Recall has sucked....When i was writing my Journal..i would have 8 to 9 dreams a night some times...

so your whole "Not thinking about Lucidity" isn't a good idea..It may work for you..But were trying to train our mind to be smarter at the fact of Dreamning and Lucidity, not lack the knowledge...

And about the whole...While you are dreaming..dont say "This is a dream" because it is a way of gettin out of Lucidity faster.....

      That is wrong too...

It states in many books..and even in the Lucid Dreaming book i have a few feet infront of me...that stating "I'am Dreaming" Or "Am I Dreamning" phrases, along those lines, make LD"s last longer...people have had up to 2 hour LD's...You dont think they kept constantly remindin themselves that they were dreaming and not to wake up????

think about what i said, along with what you said...its just my opinion, and something to think about

      thanks

You must understand that everyone is different. I dont really know how long you been doing lucid dreaming to give such advice...

If you are a novice lucid dreamer, thoughts like "It's a dream", "I'm dreaming" lead to kind of a "brain overload". At least that's what used to happen to me. Controlling my emotions greatly improved my lucidity.

Supressing heightened consciousness might be a *very* bad practice, as it is very likely to lead to semi lucid instead of fully lucid dreams... They are not that much fun.

Now, I've found that *supressing* your desire to be lucid after a long period of obsession is quite helpful in achieving lucidity....

That is what I was talking about, basically avoiding doing things that would alert the dreaming mind of your consciousness and kick you out... for me one of these events that alerts the brain to wake you up is proclaiming lucidity.
