      REM Suppression?

      Does staying awake (for a couple days at a time maybe) cause REM Suppression and maybe Lucid Dreams? Just asking because I'm honestly running out of ideas for Lucid Dreaming here.

      Well staying awake suppresses all stages of sleep since you're not sleeping. When you do eventually sleep, you will have more REM cycles and they will be longer. This can help you to LD. Actually this is one of the older and more effective techniques, but isn't very popular because it's unpleasant and you can't do it often. How long have you been trying to LD? I don't think you should try to force it in this way. It strikes me as something someone might try once or twice when they are already a proficient LDer.

      Some lucid dreamers chose to take REM supressing supplements for the rem rebound effects later in the night. I am not sure about anyone who has practiced REM suppression through sleep deprivation though.

      I think a more important question to ask is what have you done so far without results causing you to look to sleep deprivation as a last resort? Have you truly given 100% effort for at least a few months in a row without significant breaks in your effort?

      like GetDreaming asked, what is your practice consisting of so far????



      if you feel like you are running "out of ideas", you may be thinking about it too hard.......or the mindset needs to be "tweaked"

      look at it like this....dont "try to have a lucid dream", practice being lucid, period, while mastering your recall.
      MASTER YOUR RECALL.
      Master it. Everytime you wake up, recall. Keep a list of things you recently dream about.....and go over them, repeat your dreams to yourself aloud in present tense.....develop a "dream memory" and file it in a mental rolodex next to your "waking memory".
      i wouldnt recommend sleep deprivation...........you can suppress REM sleep with a little 5-htp or some melatonin.
      on break...
