      Brain wave trainer?

I was watching the Discovery Channel the other day, and these kids were hooked up to a brain-wave sensor, and based on the kids' brainwaves, it would control a video game (a small spaceship would move up and down on the screen). At first nothing would happen, but after a while the kids were able to control their brainwaves, thus moving the ship up and down on the screen avoiding the video game obstacles.

Does anyone know what the heck this is and what it is used for? Or if it could be used to induce LDs?

I saw a video of a man controlling an electric train with his mind. And that was back in toe 70s.

Sorry man...can't remember what episode, or even show.

However, I looked around online, and found out that the brain wave trainer is used for kids with ADD and also airline pilots to help them focus. I guess the have adapted some playstation games for it..here's an article that i found...or just search "bio feedback" and "attention deficit" on google.

I think that this trainer could somehow be helpful with LDs! I read somewhere that when you WILD you are somewhere in the Theta or Delta brainwave levels. If you can train yourself to reach these levels, couldn't this be used in the WILD technique???

I've just been getting into some of this brainwave entrainment myself. It's pretty freakin sweet.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but there really is quite a bit of research out there on it. I've experimented a bit with this free program brainwave generator ( www.bwgen.com ), but didn't have much success. There's another site I found which mixes binaural beats into some pretty cool ambient/synth compositions, and i've experienced some deep relaxation listening to some of the tracks. I'd compare it to some of my better meditation sessions. Anyways, that site is www.lucidquest.com . Check it out...especially the brainstretch track in the demo section.

      Anyone else experimented with this?

I'm not exactly sure how you would use it to attain lucidity...apparently you can hit REM sleep quicker if you listen before bed though.
