      Watch RC failed

      Hello everyone

I just awakend from a dream, this is currently the 1 hour I'm staying up for WBTB, so I think I'll tell you of what just happened in my dream.

It was an ordinary dream (that means senseless and stupid), main theme was fear of an exam or actually it began with me having 0 points in this exam.... anyway that's not important. Important is, that at the end of the dream my habit of doing RCs in the waking world finally incorporated itself into the dream world for the first time.
This is actually quite good news, as I have only been trying with the RC-habit for like 2 weeks.
However, I must say, the watch RC failed me, but I was luckily able to achieve lucidity through examining my surroundings (which I often do when doing an RC while awake). I woke upe a few seconds afterward, but the dream was at it's end anyway.

Now, what is bothering me is that the Watch RC failed, I looked 3 times onto my watch in 1-2 second intervals and the time was always the same, something like 5:37 PM, all three times. I have really only been able to recognize the dreamstate by looking at the buildings on the other side of the street and seeing some school buddies of mine up there on the roof, chanting stupid stuff => dream

Now my question. Has anyone ever done a watch RC that failed him? According to LaBerge the watch RC is dead sure and supposed to work every time.

      Thanks for your answers

Are you sure you really read it? That is, looked at your watch and consciously thought, "five thirty-seven PM." Then consciously looked away and then consciously looked back and thought, "five thirty-seven PM...wait that's the same as it was before!"?

In the event that such a reality check fails, you should move on to another reality check. Like, plugging your nose and trying to breathe--if you can breathe, you're dreaming!

Also, is it possible that you weren't dreaming and you actually woke up to a dream!?...no? bleh.

Its good to have a few RC's in your arsenal. The main thing, which you seem to understand, is not just to mindlessly do RC's but to actually pay attention to your surroundings and your state of mind. A great RC is to simply try and remember the days events. In a dream it will be very difficult to remember and becomes obvious that its a dream.

I have indeed experienced clock/watch (both digital and analog) RCs not working, I dont even use it anymore for that matter. Try doing what gameover suggested as this works wonders for me aswell.

I had a RC that went wrong

I was getting frustrated with the same repeating patern in my dreams but they provided me with a great "clue".

Basicly, every night I'd dream of not being able to find a CLEAN and UNOCCUPIED toilet. There were many many toilets, but all were either in use or disgusting.

So one night I was having the same deam when all of a sudden I thought "this isn't right. I know not finding a good toilet is a dream sign. I shoudl test this somehow..." and then I messed it all up. I thought to myself "well in these dreams I never find a toilet so if I CAN find one, I'm not dreaming" and of course around the next corner was an unoccupied, clean toilet. The dream ended there and went on to something else I don't even remember.

That was the closest I've gotten to a LD.

      @dearly

yea that's what I did. I looked at it read five thirty-seven PM, looked back, it read the same, so I concluded I must be awake. And no, It was definitely a dream, I know cus I woke up afterwards and recalled the whole thing.

But as gameover said, it's always necessary to look at one's surroudnigns, thats what I did in the same dream and how I got lucid then.
Seems I'm not the only one with who clock/watch RCs dont always work as h0ju confirmed.

that's all I wanted to know thx ^^
