      So close...

You probably can't get nearer to full lucidity and not get it then this. I had this dream last night.

It had been going on for a while, maybe 5 minutes, and the dream seemed to primarily involve racing. I was accused of cheating along with an entire group because we were sitting in a circle, and I tried to grind across a rail as fast as I could (which are both pretty weird since I never race, and don't skate). Then I left the group, and went out of the house we were in, presumably going home. I walked along the street to the first intersection, and there the asphalt street turned into a dirt road. Suddenly I remembered the first part of the dream where I walked to the house, it had not been a dirt road then, it was also asphalt!
      Could this be a dream?!
I immediatly did a reality check. I became conscious of my breathing through the nose, inhaled and exhaled a couple of times, then clamped it shut. But... I couldn't breathe anymore.
What? Not a dream... Maybe I took the wrong turn when exiting the house?
I looked back... No, this was definitly the right turn. There shouldn't be a dirt road here! I did the reality check again. Same result, couldn't breathe through my nose.
Something is fishy here... This can't be right, the only explanation I can think of for that road appearing is that this is a dream! So why does my RC succeed?
I did the RC again. Succeeded again.
I'm not buying it... Something more is going on here. Maybe I can find more evidence that this is a dream at the house. There might be a clock there...
So I headed back to the house.

And that's where it ends. I think it was the end of the dream, but it might also just be the end of my recall. This would have been the first time I'd actually reason myself to lucidity if it had worked instead of gaining it spontaneously. But nonetheless, I'm pretty pleased about this, because I didn't give up on questioning my environment even after three successful RC's.
But it's pretty clear the nose-holding RC doesn't work for me. I've used it succesfully before, but it's time to find another, I think. It probably has to do with the clarity of the dream, as it was exceptionally clear, and it's only logical dream realism would improve as well.
Better luck next time, I guess.

      i'd consider this a short, low-level lucid.

Well you got lucid allright =) Actually you Can get more lucid, becouse just not buying RC doesn't mean you are 'ultimately lucid'.

      Still it;s nice =)

      I my lucid I didn't even need a RC, I just knew.
