      Simple Question

      Last night, being the night I discovered DV, I decided to try MILD. Although, it was to no avail. I didn't experience that "vibration" or see anything going on in my room. At least, anything that I don't usually see. A few lines scitter around here and there, but the same can be said for if I look at the back of my eyelids. Might I also note that since I decided to try MILD, I also did not get a good sleep. I slept from 12:00 A.M. to around 6:00 A.M., and after that, just couldn't sleep anymore.

      Not to say I was expecting to have a lucid dream on my very first try, not at all. But I just couldn't really concentrate on performing MILD. I can DILD easily but the problem is, I can't DILD if I don't know I'm having a dream, which I almost never remember.

      Anyone just have some tips for a beginner? Suggested methods and steps you take to get into them? I read this morning that for MILD you can try counting your breaths to take your mind off everything as your body falls asleep. I'd gladly try it, but it's 7:40 A.M. now.

      First off, it's WILD, not MILD what you're doing. WILD is Wake-Initiated LD.
      Do you have your eyes open when you attempt to WILD? That's a bit counter-productive, you're trying to sleep.
      Also WILD is not really the beginner's method but I don't want to keep you from trying.
      Also you don't neccessarily need to see anything hypnagogic (halluscinations). It differs from person to person. I'm not a good WILDer but I experience SP quite often but almost never get visual halluscinations.
      I'd advise you to get up after 4-6 hours of sleep or so, as always, then for the WILD lay down comfortably and then it's mostly up to you. WILD is not as easy as MILD and it does need some experimenting. Not every method works for everybody so you will have to see what appeals to you and what seems to work nicely.
      Still, there are some important factors:
      Your body needs to be completely relaxed, from head to toe, you must give away control of every muscle to your subconscious and relax everything, including your eyelids, your whole face, neck and so on.
      You need to be in a positive state of mind and your mind needs to be relaxed and flexible.
      In the process of your WILD, this is important, no matter what technique you chose:
      - Divert your attention from your body to something else
      - Forget your physical body
      - Either concentrate on something or have a clean mind with no thought.
      - Stay calm and passively accept all halluscinations
      - Find a good way for you to enter the dream... Get out of bed, fly out, dream yourself into a scenery, look through closed eyes and so on.
      The rest is just a matter of technique and experience.

      Korittke, there is a technique referred to as MILD-Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream.

      Rape of Faith, not everyone experiences MILD the same way. The biggest suggestion that I have is to be as relaxed as possible. If you go to the tutorials section there is an excellent relaxation technique. Maybe a few visuals of what you are trying to acheive would be useful as well.

      Did you even read the post? He's obviously talking about WILD, because unless you have some kind of vibrator attached to your head or other parts of your body it's pretty common to not feel vibrations when using MILD, let alone experiencing HI or other harbingers of sleep onset.
