As long as you have dreams you can WILD, so basically go from a waking state into a dream state. I guess you just won't use "HI techniques" and get a wild another way.
I tried the breathing method last night as I went to bed. Around 35, the areas of my body that weren't touching the pillow or bed started aching really, really badly. I ignored it, concentrating on the counting, and the breathing, and was able to get over it. It stopped around 65. Around 150 breaths, I had this weird sensation. It felt like my body, and seemingly everything else was spiraling around in a circle really fast. It felt good. :content: It slowly faded away, though. Finally, around 400 breaths, I started aching again, but this time it was much worse than before. I gave in and moved, ruining everything.
I'm still happy with my results considering it was my first go. Plus, by rereading this thread, I realized that I'm ment to do this after waking myself up in the middle of the night. So I'll try it again tonight.

BillyBob101's WILD Method Experience:
I went to bed @ 9:30PM, and awoke at exactly 2:00AM. I thought it'd be a great time to try the newly discovered method for WILD. After awakening my mind for 5-10 minutes, I went back to bed and got myself comfortable. I was lying on my back with my arms at my sides as I started to count my breaths. With each inhalation, I counted up one more number. With each exhalation, I said to myself, "I'm dreaming." I also tried visualizing the number I was on, and the words: I'm dreaming.
After around 250 repetitions, I experienced sleep paralysis. My body's method to paralyze my body was not harsh at all, the feelings of my body just seemed to intensify tenfold. I felt everything being intensified, and noticed that I also felt extremely heavy. It was quite a fun ride, indeed. I kept my eyes closed, and kept counting... I knew that I'd soon be in a lucid-dream. I made my way all the way up to seven or eight-hundred repetitions, and started seeing increasingly vivid colors.
I thought that I was for sure ready to "open my dream eyes" and walk around in the dream-world. So, I opened my eyes, but it turned out that I opened my real eyes. :(
I shook my body out of sleep paralysis and felt refreshed like I would if I'd gotten a normal night of sleep.
I have a few questions for anyone who's experienced with WILD, so that maybe I can progress a little further next time:
1. Will I be able to control my breathing even in sleep paralysis? I thought, at least, that I was controlling my breath last night.
2. Will my external senses be dulled or suppressed gradually during the WILD process? For example, when I was around 500 counts, I still noticed my brother turning and tossing in his bed.
3. Will I have to force my "dream eyes" to open when I want to enter the dream-world, or will I just find myself in the dream?
4. How far did I make it?!

Had another interesting experience:
I got a little further last night with this WILD technique:
I went to bed at 11:30PM, and awoke at 4:45AM to start my WILD. I went to the bathroom and walked around a bit just to awaken my mind a bit. Then, I went back to bed and started counting breaths as I had in my last attempt.
Luckily, SP had hit way quicker than it had before; it only took 140 counts to reach SP this time!
I thought that this time, for sure, I'd make it into a lucid-dream state. I kept counting inhalations, and my SP deepened and deepened until I could hardly feel where my limbs even were.
Eventually, I made it all the way to 865 counts, and I realized that I felt a gentle, soft pressure on the left side of my face. It was like there was a soft pillar leaning against the left-side of my face.
Also, I experienced something I hadn't before: my eyes were struggling to stay closed... they kept blinking to try to stay closed. I thought that this was the call to open my 'dream eyes', so I opened my eyes only to realize that I was back in the waking state.
Ugh, it was 6:00AM!
What happened?
I think maybe your problem is that your still counting your breaths after you enter SP.
You should try just hearing your breath once you reach sleep paralysis (ie. stop saying "breathe in, one,- breathe out" etc.. and just focus on hearing the slight rasping noise your breathe makes when you breathe in and out.)
While doing this you may find it beneficial to feel your breaths enter and exit your inner throat.
