      Sleeping Pills Help?

I have been having trouble sleeping. Stress and lack of sleep have effected my dreams so the other night I thought I'd take a sleeping pill. I thought for sure this would cancel out any possibility of dream recall. QUITE the opposite! I woke up after every dream, recorded it and had awesome recall! I'm thinking about taking sleeping pills for a while untill my stress has been decreased and if it helps my recall perhaps it will help my LD's too(of which there is a serious lack).

Anybody else have any effects on dreaming with sleeping pills?

Sleeping pills just gives me wacky dreams. I have excellent dream recall as it is so it didn't do much for me there. As for LDing on them I have never been able to LD on them. Some others may disagree though. Just isn't my thing I guess.

      herbal sleeping pills

I have found sometimes that if I have had an alcoholic drink before going to bed I wake up at 3 in the morning and cant get back to sleep. If I take 3 herbal sleeping pills - the kind that smell of yeast and contain valerian then I have quite good lucid dreams. However, if I take sleeping pills before I go to sleep first of all then it doesnt work. I have to wake up at 3 for it to work.

I changed my mind. I think it was just a fluke. The next few days were so-so on recall. Ah well.

Generally speaking it does for the majority not help dream recall. It hinders it. Just as any sedative hampers recall under any circumstance.
Also make sure if you are on a sleep aid that it is not one you are apt to form a dependency on.

Sleeping pills generally bugger up your sleep patterns - don't use it.
You might want to investigate melatonin as a more natural answer though

Taking sleeping pills can do a variety of things to your dreams. It's a bit unpredictable at times - but rest assured that you aren't properly rested this way
Natural sleep is far better than sleep pills
