      Subliminal messaging?

      http://www.infinn.com/subliminal.html

Subliminal messages are a way of advertising, and it works by 'flashing' messages on a screen for a tiny amount of time. It makes the brain subconsciously absorb the message that was on the screen.

I'm not sure if this will induce a Lucid Dream, but it has been proven to be effective in advertising. In fact, it has been so effective, that it has been banned in the UK.

On the link above you can download a 30 day trial, probably long enough to be effective.
You can change the messages to whatever you want, change the font size, and also have it flashing messages on your computer when you are doing something else (say, going on dreamviews!).

As i said i'm not sure if it will work, but it might.

Any questions or comments please post below

Nice that you though this up! Like I said in chat (hint: everone go to chat or you will die of alien hamsters eating away your brain.) - Like I said: I think it has a chance of working!

At least it's worth a shot!

The chance of going nuts becouse of it is like really small! Nah, they did it in cinema's too, to make people buy cola n shit ^___^

EDIT: hey I am trying it right now. I hope it will work.

I am downloading this program now, and going to give it a shot.

The problem is 'what do I write?' the shorter they messages are, the more influence they have (or so would seem the concencious when writing subliminal messages)

"When I dream, I will become lucid"
"When I dream, I will recognise it as a dream"
"Whenever I do ... I will perform a reality check"

I think the second one would work best. So I will try that, unless someone can come up with a message that flows abit more?

Hey this looks pretty interesting... might be useful for me - I waste huge amounts of time on the computer just bumming around.

Figuring out what phrase to use would be hard, but I'd probably go with "I will realise I am dreaming" or something along those lines.

If it works, please tell it. I am confident enough to code a freeware to do the same thing.

ive thought about this before and one thing is if you put the messages into something, then you will know what they are and you will look for them.subliminel messages only work when you dont notice there happening, so its less likely to work if you use your own messages or if you know what their supposed ti be saying.

This is a good point, subliminal messages are supposed to be read by the subconsious mind, so it may not be as effective if you know what the messages are saying.

Perhaps writing many different messages would help to combat this.

      Been there done that

The good news is that I ended up with 2 weeks of 15 lucid dreams.
The bad news is I was also doing self-hypnosis, and haven't a clue what it was that caused it.

Hell, I even wrote my own program, which some on the forum might remember or even still use.

The problem is to do with CRT monitors - they have a phosphor afterglow
This means that you can't display an image for a short enough period on the screen without it being visible to the human eye. Unless you have one kickarse refresh rate perhaps.
I don't remember the math exactly, but if you calculate eg. 70Hz - it SHOULD be good enough. but it's not, because of the afterglow.

What does this mean? All these programs do one of the following:
      1) Show nothing most of the time - the image is never rendered to the screen before being removed from GPU memory.
      OR
      2) It shows, and you can see it flicker. You might not be able to read it, but you saw it.

This kind of kills the subliminal part of subliminal messages
I did feel that it might be a good idea though. Why? Because it reminds you about lucid dreaming and reality (or whatever the messages are about)
      That's always a good thing.

Anyway, let us know how it goes, k?

      Okay so after last night,

I had it going from pretty much 6pm-9pm and I could see a few words, but not read all of it. sometimes the screen would freee and I could read it all though.

I had think I had two lucid dreams (My first lucid dreams since starting again this year).
One was started by trying Hargarts, 'HILD' technique. And I don't know how the other started. I think it was DILD.

I have no idea whether this subliminal program had anything to do with the DILD.

I don't think it matters too much if you know what it is saying, as long as you want what it is saying.

The cerebial cortex in the back of your brain (or whatever that little bit that connects the spin to the brain is) is knowen for programming positive affimations.

Saying things like "I wil be kind to everyone I meet" everytime you wake up, the cortex programs that into you. Because by saying it, you are confirming it and knowingly telling yourself.
about 30-40% of the world know about that, but only 5% do it, amoung the 5% are some of the most well knowen people in the world. Einstien used to do it I believe.

So whether or not you know what the message says, I don't believe it should be a problem.

Hey I downloaded the thing and I've started using it. I used it for a little while last night and I had some really heavy dreaming, but I don't know if that is what caused it. I've set the thing up to flash the messages today and hopefully i will notice some effects after a while, especially seeing as I use the computer nearly all day.

Has anyone else tried this/had any success?

I don't really notice any difference. Besides, isn't the goal of subliminal messaging that you can Not see it? Becouse I do see it flashing over the screen. Even at 1 milisecond. I don't think computerscreens can keep up with the mind

      The idea of subliminal messaging is;

You are told something / showen something so fast, that you cannot render in your concious mind. You subconcious snaps a picture of it however, and then the subconcious works on it.
The idea is that you cannot argue with the suggestion made, because you never conciously saw it.

So I don't think it would matter if you saw abit of it, as long as you don't think about what you saw. Just ignore it, pretend it isn't there.

I see nobody actually reads my posts.
It's because of your monitor. Not your mind.

Yeah I used a program like this or may have even used this one i cant remember. I just used the preset sayings. You can still see them, but sometimes not all of it. You just see a flash of text across the screen, and since it was random and there were many messages, i didn't know what they said. I got kind of board of them and quit. Don't know if they helped because i didn't only use a specific message. That would be cool though. It is kind of like telling yourself those things.

Oh, no! Of course that isn't dangerous!

I suggest you put in "I will kill myself". "Kill yourself" is more of a suggestion from someone else, but "I will kill myself" is like you are saying it, get what I mean?

I'm sure no harm will come from this, hell, carry a knife round with you at all times as well
