      Is this WILD?

Well last night I woke up at like 6:00 (which is when I usually wake up to go to school) but since it was a saturday I decided to stay in bed. It crossed my mind that I might try WILD (which I have tried in previous nights with no sucess) and I was really surprised to find out how easy it is to enter a dream when you're really tired! I just closed my eyes and expected to sit there for like 30 minutes trying to WILD, but a few seconds later imgaes started to appear and I could see the dream world. I'm not sure though, if I had been visualizing the exact scene, or if it appeared out of my subconscious mind. This is my first wild, so I'm not exactley sure if it is a WILD, and I have to say it felt quite different from my average DILDs.

It felt very...shallow. It felt as if any little thing could wake me up, and it was like I was still aware of the outside world. I could feel myself lying in bed, but trying to move only moved myself in the dream world. The dream was very short. It probably only lasted 5 seconds before I woke up...

so is this WILD, or is it VILD, because I was visualizing the scene? I didnt go through any strange vibrations or noises, and I didn't remember experiencing sleep paralysis...it was so short I'm not even sure it was a dream.

what you experienced is called "hypnagogic imagery" or "hypnagogia" as some prefer. it comes almost immediately before sleep paralysis and then "real" dreaming. i like to think of the hypnagogia as being the ante-room of dreams, because often if you are able to pay attention just to the hypnagogic-dream without thinking about your body laying in bed, you will very suddenly enter sleep paralysis, and possibly do a complete, successful WILD. but being able to get to the stage of actually being involved in the hypnagogia, instead of just seeing random images, is very good! i have been trying to figure out the best method for inducing a WILD, and a lot of times it's very difficult to get to that stage without losing myself in it and falling asleep too soon.

I always begin dreaming before I'm fully asleep. As I'm drifting off, I'm still aware of being in bed and what time it is, etc, but other (dream) people, sounds, and things begin to join me. If nobody real disturbs me, My eyes begin to feel paralysed and then my large muscles follow. Although I'm dreaming already and feel completely still, I still know what position I'm in bed or on the couch, what room I'm in in the house, how long I've been there, etc. Being roused at this stage is extremely annoying. I'm still not fully asleep, but I want to go there! But this is about as far asleep as I ever get during a daytime nap, as my son will disturb me before too long.
