I did a HILD for the first time last night and well....

I did the HILD in the topic http://dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7245 last night. I started to feel it's effects and couldn't believe what I was feeling. I was screaming to myself that this is so freaking crazy, weird and awesome but I kept my cool and was calm and collect.

My hands were getting warmer, I felt my heart racing, and I felt like I was being pulled to the bed like a magnet and as well like the bed kept spinning. After I completed the steps, i wasn't entirely sure what to do. I figured I'd just continue to lay there and try to fall asleep as I was already feeling like that due to this hypnosis.

About 30 minutes went by and I apparently was still awake. I could almost feel the great feeling I had start to go away and I tried a lot of will power and internal speeches to myself to keep the feeling there as long as I could but after a while, I lost the fight.

Was I supposed to do something else after the last steps? I get the feeling I was doing every single thing right up until when I finished the last step.

All in all though, definately one of the coolest nights of my life. I still remembered 3 dreams when I awoke the next morning so the night wasn't a total loss.
Wait!! .......Am I dreaming right now?

Ah well that's fucking cool for your first time!

It allso sounds alot like WILD becouse of the feelings. I thought that with HILD you didn't get that... ah well just keep trying! Most people don't succeed at their first time. I know I didn't

I just hope I can do that again. I thought it was an awesome feeling. Last night I didn't know what to expect but now that I DO sort of know I don't know if that will make it easier or not.

I just don't get how I follow the steps in the HILD technique and end up getting a WILD or possible a OBE!

      Hello there,

the Hypnosis-ILD is not supposed to be done at night (although the tech says different - whatever). You should have a high level of concentration and relaxation at the same time when practicing hypnosis. Hypnsosis and sleep rule each other out if you want the hypnsosis to be effective. And this is very important... with self-hypnosis you're not supposed to get any of the sensations that you get while WILDing. The point of the hypnosis is to get your subconscious mind to just make it so that you will have more LDs - preferably DILDs because that's what your subconscious has most "control" over. In order to do this you go into a deep trance that is significantly different from sleep and give your suggestions to the unconscious mind - the effect of the suggestions will not be felt or experienced directly afterwards.
If you're doing it at night it's pretty clear that you will get effects similar to WILD because WILD is nothing else than a form of meditation and relaxation in the middle of the night. If you're that tired that's just what's going to happen - your body falls asleep while your mind stays awake. But if you get that, your hypnotic suggestions are probably not gonna work that good because your mind is doing something completely different from what you actually intended to.

Anyway, it seems that you can be a good WILDer with some practice so I suppose you could focus on that.

Thanks for that encouragement of the possibility I could be a good WILDer with practice. However as I've said in many topics already, I'm just about done with my first week on this site and still have a lot to learn. I tried the same thing last night and didn't really get the same results. I know that this is going to take a while and when my second week rolls around, I'll put myself up for adoption (You know, I never thought I would ever say "I'll put myself up for adoption" in my life) and from there maybe I'll start enhancing what little skills I have right now and learn some new ones.

      just keep practicing i guess

I tried getting the feel for a HILD last night too, although as I had college and school the next morning i decided just to get the feel of it whilst first in bed ( I'm at college as i type lol). It seemed so strange, I'm not sure what happened. I started feeling dizzy and confused, I had the feeling of falling down a long pit or something. It was pretty fun but I'm gonna try for real on th weekend so I can get enough sleep to attempt it >_<

When i tried a HILD it felt very weird. The first few stages worked well until i could hear something outside and i got distracted, so i stayed in this virtually parylysed state, yet wide awake. It was very uncomfortable, and i had a very bad, dreamless sleep. SInce then ive been doing a more cut-down version, so even if i got distracted, it would not affect me that much. Unfortunately, when i do this, i barely feel that 'magnetic feeling'. But it somewhat does help me with vivid dreams. I encourage wild a lot

I don't think HILD is supposed to cause any of that. It might be better to try it in the daytime. I tend to do it at night, too; my only problem is that as I get closer to sleep, my mind starts wandering on its own accord and interferes with what I'm trying to think.

You didn't do anything wrong by the sounds of it. Nothing special is supposed to happen after the last step, you don't slip into a dream or anything. You are just supposed to return to full awareness leaving the suggestion in your subconscious.

      Does it matter?

I tried HILD once, I got the heaviness/magnetic feeling, but then I felt pain, suprisingly. It was enough to break my concentration . I think I'll try it again sometime.

Have you tried it again since then?
