      Lie to Yourself

Doing constant RC's can not only be a pain, but sometimes don't work even when you do remember to check something in your dreams. I find that most of the time I'll make up excuses as to why something isn't working right in my dreams.

How about randomly telling yourself throughout the day: "I am dreaming". If you get that thought in your head enough, won't you repeat it during sleep or at least think about that phrase?

I realize that this idea wasn't hard to come up with. I'm just curious as to if it will work or not. Please excuse any grammer errors as I am very tired right now.

This just like many techniques is too subjective and not deep enough.
"Saying" something constantly thoughtout the day is a technicality...one must really mean it for it to take effect. Intent is the key behind success. There are many aspects that can propel intent as it is on a deep enough mental level. Such aspects include emotions and will power.

I think there is another problem with this aside from not doing it with enough deepness.
If you lie to yourself during the day that "I'm dreaming". In a dream you will say "I'm dreaming", but you will be thinking you are just lying to yourself.
      Just my thought.

Ahh, of course. Totally makes sense.

I just have trouble with RC's. Especially in dreams where I tend to make excuses on why something weird is happening.

I don't see how this is lying to yourself. LIke if you were to say "Am I dreaming" i think if you then did a reality check of your surroundings you could determine this. But i agree that you might just get used to saying it without meaning and always determening that you aren't dreaming. So i think if you actually go through this enough to check ykour surroundings and stuff it might work.

I believe that dreams and waking life are "reflections" of each other, and that during both, one can use their will to manifest whatever. I also don't turn lucid, but quite frankly don't need it. I quite often have dream control without lucidity. Instead of separating one's self, why not integrate them, become one in the same.

I laugh out loud at all the stupid stuff people put themselves through for the possibility of lucidity. Especially when I become lucid without any RCs or B6.

Like most people have said, simply telling yourself "I'm dreaming" and not thinking about it is not going to help. However, taking what you're suggesting a little further definitly can and probably will increase your lucid dream frequency. I'm talking about being aware during waking life. Aware of yourself and your surroundings. You can make this easier for yourself by pretending everything you see around you during waking life as a dream. Created by your own mind. If you're lucky, this increased awareness will carry over into your dreams and help you recognize them. I believe them Tibetan dream yogis did this (among many other things of course) to incude lucid dreams.

Also, if you're annoyed with RC's. You should stick to doing the nose RC (see tutorial). It's quick (as quick as saying: "i'm dreaming" anyway) and very reliable.
      A dream
is a reality that others cannot see.
      Reality
is a dream you share with others.

      Great! Completely forgot about that.

Actually, the past few nights I have been starting to do RC's, and it's worked so far

I had a short small LD, and I got close to another one last night. The thing is, I always do a RC by looking at a clock than looking back. I did that in my dream last night, but like always I made up and excuse as to why the time changed.

I'll definitely start trying the "nose" RC.

I also have had lucids all my life, (Except during my heavy pot-using days where I lost recall of dreams) so I cannot really be sure, but ever since I have started telling myself I am dreaming, and then taking a look at my surroundings, my lucid abilities seem to be returning. the thing is that we seem to believe everything in our dreams, so why would we believe for a second that we would lie to ourself? after all, we tend to believe almost anything right? truthfully, I believe that different things work for different people, and even someone who has millions of lucids, their techniques may not work for certain people. So I say keep looking, and when you find what works... stick with it, and whatever doesn't then abandon it.
