Last night, when I went to bed ~2 am, I decided I would try to WILD, just to see if I could, because if the will was great enough and I concentrated enough, then I believed that I could. So I vaguely remembered the steps to WILD, and slowly, but definitely lost control of my entire body, save for tongue and eye lids. I felt like I was floating, and a warm, heavy sensation, that 3 times got more intense than the intensity I expected it to stay at. I noticed as I was trying that I didn't really have an intended place to go, so I picked the beach. I tried to visualize the beach, and walking on the sand, the sounds of the ocean, people, cars (noise which I was trying to incorporate in to my dream), and very briefly a couple times had some vivid images appear, none of which had to do with the beach. At one point I felt my body shake gently, and my muscles started to tense, and I thought I might finally have an LD, but instead, I regained control and woke up. * * * *So tell me, did I almost WILD, or am I just fooling my self?
Okay, the best advice I can give, is, firstly:
Don't give up! It took me over three weeks of WILD attempts to get the first one to come out, and after that, another month before the second. Slow progress, I know, but, meh.
Secondly: I think you might be concentrating too hard... trying to make dream scenes appear, etc. It sounds like you were getting sleep paralysis, and the BEGINNINGS of hypnagogic imagery. What you need to do, is find something to focus (NOT concentrate) your thoughts on... like, the imagery, or counting, or your body...
The KEY is not to concentrate, but to just passivly watch all the hypnagogic imagery, or passively "observe" your random thoughts. Try to remove yourself a bit from your thoughts and just "watch" them ratber than "think" them, while staying conscious. I know that sounds kind of kooky and weird, but, that's what you've got to do, IMHO. You don't have to concentrate to make a WILD happen. Because, all a WILD is, is just falling asleep and dreaming, like what happens every night, EXCEPT that you stay conscious. That's the ONLY difference. So, concentrating doesn't help, you DONT have to force anything.
ALL you've got to do is find a way to "anchor" your consciousness, and be able to "enter" the dream when it comes along. DONT force anything, just let it happen.
