I tried searching for the thread about this method and that link didn't work.
By the way there are tons of techniques with the acronymn FILD.
So anyway what is this technique?

ENJOY!
Some people have lots of success with this technique!
ok i was going to try it last night but i woke up at 4 after a dream so i tried a WBTB but i couldn't get back to sleep so i'll try FILD tonight
EDIT: Ok tried it last night and it worked! sort of i woke up at 7:00 after a dream i had tried the FILD technique 2 hours before woke up but i couldn't remember if it worked then i remember a lucid dream i was in my driveway i knew i was lucid i rubbed my hands it was a very clear dream but i cant remember it all is this because i didn't wake up till 2 hours later? because i was having a non lucid dream after so wat happend? all i can remember i saying in the lucid "i have control over my dream" and "i control when i wake up" well that would explain why i never woke up after the lucid and 2 hours ago seemed like 1 week ago im confused
Look, that link to the fild technique, on page 1, doesnt work, can some explain it, please!!
Too bad the tutorial is gone, it would probably have explained it better than me. What you do is, sometime after you wake up in the middle of the night or early morning (I don't think it would work right when you go to bed for the same reason that WBTB and WILD work better when you've been asleep for a while), you start to wiggle your fingers, like raising and lowering them very slightly. Try to make your mind blank, except for concentrating on your fingers. Don't count, and push out any thoughts that come into your head. After a while, do a reality check. What can happen is your mind falls asleep but your fingers are still moving (I think), and because you are aware ofyour fingers, you can make yourself aware that you are sleeping and dreaming. It was so weird when it worked for me, it was like I was asleep but aware of my body in my bed but also going into a lcid dream, all because my fingers were still wiggling. This led to a long LD. And once I had an extremely realistic vision of being in the snow and a wolf wwas looking at me, but I knew I was still laying there moving my fingers.
Because this worked so well a couple times, I am in the habit of trying it all the time now, but I can rarely get much to happen anymore. I still have hope, and it is really easy to do. The worst thing that happens is you just fall asleep, or you realize a little while later you are not moving your fingers anymore.
I think the keys are to 1) make your mind blank and 2) do a RC after a while; you may be surprized to find that you are sleeping!
Hope this helps and I hope it works for you. If that FILD thread ever shows back up, you should read that. (I haven't looked, I assume you searched for it).
Well...it sounds like it worked somehow. I usually wake up right after a lucid, so I'm not sure what happened to you except that maybe your lost your lucidity and went into a regular dream. I'd keep trying because it seems like it might work for you.
Thats great! I'll try that tonight! I'm looking forward to it!
Yeah, Ive given the FILD method a try a few times with no success yet. My main problem seems to be realizing that my fingers stopped moving. Like, I'll slowly drift to an almost sleep state, then think back to my fingers, and realize my fingers havent been moving for a while. I have one more question though which might be a little difficult to answer; when your nearly asleep, are you just imagining your fingers moving, or are they really moving untill you do the RC? Also, when you do the RC do you do it with the hand that has the moving fingers, or do you use your other hand. If you use your other hand, do you continue to move your fingers as you RC and even after the RC (failed or not)?
I have been trying to do FILD FOREVER, but it NEVER works. EVER. Just a few questions:
1. How do most people wake up to use FILD? I just use my alarm clock. Suggestions?
2. Does anybody actually stay up 30-60 minutes before trying it? And does that mean that mean you wake up around 5:00 or around then, stay up 30-60 minutes, then do FILD?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!& #33;!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!
I successfully did the FILD once. the hard part is getting to the half asleep state. the tendency here is too fall asleep. POERFULL if done correctly.
How do any of you fall asleep when moving your fingers? It's amazing....
didn't happen to me at all. I tried, but failed miserably. I'm an insomniac, so wiggling my fingers really doesnt help much when trying to fall asleep
1)I think your fingers are still moving after you fall asleep. I was in my bed, asleep, moving my fingers, but aware of all this and also aware that I was dreaming. Very hard to describe.
2)The tutorial said to do an RC, but I don't really ever do that; I am always just suddenly aware I am dreamiing. And that's how this was.
3)It's kind of like you are aware of your real body and of your dream self at the same time, so even though you are laying there moving your fingers, you go into the lucid dream. I think I just forgot about my real body after a few minutes and went on with the dream. Other people describe getting up out of bed as soon as they realize they are dreaming.
4) It is hard to describe the transition, and it is almost hard to know it when it happens, that is why you have to do RC's. I was so surprized when I realized I was asleep.
I can't stay up that long; I just do it after I naturally wake up to go to the bathroom or something. I always wake up a lot at night so I have a lot of opportunities.
I don't know!
tried FILD last night, read this to see what happened for me

Wow, i haven't LD in like 6 months becaue i haven't really tried to. But i decided to start trying, starting with this method. I did it last night and i had two lds. First was "o, i'm lding" and woke up. Thats ok cause it really wasn't much of a dream. It was just a black backgrounds with like yellow light.
Second dream ended up being the longest LD i've had yet
BillyBob has a link to the original FILD thread in his post "five steps to more LD".
ok im going to try again tonight. I had a lucid dream last night wasn't really that good it was a DILD so im going to try FILD again tonight and i'll post my resaults wish me luck!
how come this technique doesnt work for me?i've tried it twice..i dont understand whats going wrong.
I've tried it a zillion times and it never worked for me.
I've tried it a few times now, and it doesn't work. I think the problem is, that you wake up incorrectly. The point is to wake by your self through suggestion. Tell your self, that you'll wake up after each dream period. This do work, and there are many ways. Then, as you wake up, just lie there. Get comfortable and try the technique again. Then it'll most likely work. Also, you can't just get up, turn of the alarm, get back to bed and do it. If you're using an alarm, you should try to do a "semi" wild. By that, I mean get into a trance like state, but do your best to stay conscious. Do this for maybe 2 minutes, and I tell you, that is hard, since you'll most likely asleep. Then do the technique. I'll try it again tonight :)
i felt the same way you did about filds at first, but then i read some success stories and now i'm convinced its possible. i'm going to try it again tonight. i failed the first night and my alarm clock failed the second night (it didn't wake me up)
