FILD totally works!

Highly recommended! Worked great the first time! Hopefully will work more than once, unlike anything else I've tried! I'll know within a few hours...

Last night it produced the longest lucid I've had yet. I was really surprized, it really sounded kind of silly when I read about it. I was quite amazed though.

Can't wait to try again; hope I remember. I made a little sign by the toilet.

Is this "Finger Induced Lucid Dreaming?" I have tried it before with no luck. I may give it another go though.

I made it but never got to the visual stage. I did a RC by breathing while holding my nose closted (first time ive ever done it) so that was cool all in its own. I forgot what I was supposed to because I was afraid to open my eyes and get out of bed to quickly. So after a while I just got up and lost it

Darn; results were not as good last night. It seemed like I was too tired or something, I kept just falling asleep and forgetting about my fingers. I still have hope, the first time was so good. It is starting to seem like everything is like that; the first time I try anything it seems to work but then I can't get it to again.

Does anybody use this as their regular technique?
Can you get it to work every time?

At least you get another chance every night!

No luck for me either

I've tried it twice; maybe I wake up too much and then don't realize I'm falling asleep... I get to RC but I'm always awake...

You have to be really tired for this technique don't you? If not, try it when you're tired because I find, when I'm really tired, I fall asleep within seconds of closing my eyes.
need to actually start like trying to LD i've pretty much started that now kinda.

Account of my first success with FILD (first time I actually did it, to some degree...):

Before going to bed, I thought of what I would do once I became lucid (it was to feel the textures / etc, and also thought of a beach scene) and what I would do once I woke up in the night, to do the FILD tech. By the way, I read the '5 steps to more LDS' / 'FILD' posts, sometime before going to sleep---

I wake up in the morning, not very tired, maybe around 5 am. Kindof needed to use the bathroom, but ignored it.

After some time after relaxing, I was slipping in and out of consciousness. Did the finger movements at some point.. I noticed my view was blue-ish?.. Decided to do the nose RC, although thought it would be pointless.

I was able to breath through my nose, although I had the feeling my eyes were glued shut and that I was trying to open them, for some reason. Attempted to change scene to beach after stopping the nose breathing, didn't work.. tried imaging a person, no good.. woke up.

Well, too bad, next time I should keep doing the breathing and perhaps try imagining the room / try getting up.

Good for you. I still haven't had anymore luck. Next time I'll get something to work more than once before I get so excited about it. Still trying occasionally. I think my little reminder sign fell off though.

for those of you who have had it work, 2 quick questions.

1. how high do you raise your fingers? Like barely moving, or pretty high?

2. generally, how soon do you think i should to the RC after closing my eyes (with my fingers moving?)

I tried it! And it worked! First time I really tried it too. I had just woken up from a dream, and I got comfortable, and relaxed, I'm not sure when, but it got me to a point, where I was in my dream, and not in my dream. I then did the reality check, realized I was dreaming. And then I got out of bed.

The weird thing was, as soon as I realized that I was dreaming, I felt myself back in my bed, yet I was still dreaming. It was pretty cool.

When I did this, I didn't raise my fingers, I just sort of pushed down. I guess I was doing it more in my head if anything. And my eyes

Yes when I did it it was unbelieveable. Somehow I went to sleep with my mind still active. It was the most amazing thing. And I CANNOT DO IT AGAIN!!! It's driving me crazy! (Well not quite but I am losing some sleep trying.).

For me, the hardest part is currently.. just trying to wake up during the night without using an alarm watch/clock >.>

I can't use the alarm clock, so I've been trying to say 'Wake up at 3:00AM' and 'I will wake up at 3:00 AM' as I fall asleep (has worked for me before, for non-dreaming reasons).

What do you all use to wake up? Alarm clock?

I recall reading that everyone wakes up a few times/night after a rem period but you need to really force yourself to go up here. Personally I don't sleep very hard so I don't have a problem waking up (without the use of an alarm clock) about 2-3 times/night and write in my dream journal.

I also think you hold the answer to your question. Keep telling yourself to wake up when you want to wake up and eventually you will.

Drink a lot of water before you go to bed.

Clever, haha. I've read the tutorial and it sounds very...interesting and nice. I'm gonna give this a try tonight if I manage to wake up.

Same thing happened to me in my WILDs. I didn't like it much though, because I was scaredthat if I moved, I would move my real body... I managed to move my dream body for a little while (it was like controlling 2 bodies at once ), but I inevitably moved my real body-goodbye WILD! -Stoat

First WILD on 6th of August, 2006!

I have yet to have as much success as that first time. But I continue to try out of habit. It seems to be very relaxing to me at this point and I fall asleep right away.

Why are you sorry that this was the fisrt topic i read?

i find that WBTB is the best method for me but its annoying getting up in the middle of the night. Last night i set my alarm and when it went off i turned it off and sat up in bed for 3 minutes and fell asleep

then i thought if i set my watch alarm for 5:30 when it goes off it lasts 30 seconds could i try the FILD technque then?

trying it anyway

Oh just because I was so enthusiastic about FILD at first, but then I couldn't get it to work very well anymore.

I never can do WBTB, because if I got up for an hour I would never go back to bed. When FILD worked for me, it was probably early morning and I was only awake for a couple minutes at most. So maybe that will work for you too. Let us know.
