      How effective is FILD

The thread introducing FILD is very active with many people reporting sucess.

But is this technique able to give you LDs on a regular basis?

If you've had more than 3 LDs with FILD, please add a brief reply describing how often it works for you.

Good idea. I would be very interested to know if anyone can get this to work consistently.

if soemone says more than 30, that isnt really a show of its effectiveness, if thay have tried it 300 times, maybe it should be like a % of success.

I'm thinking a percentage thread would be better.

Also. I didn't actually go lucid the 1 time i tried it, however i did go into a dream where i was staring at my hand. And then instantly woke up. I really think that had i stayed asleep i would have gone lucid. I was also talking about lucid dreaming in the dream. So i think it counts as a successful trial. because had any of you lucid gods done this you would have just gone right into a lucid dream.

I can't really remember how many iv had using it.. somewhere between 10 and 20 over the summer. Iv tried many different techniques to wake up in the middle of the night.. alarm clock, leaving the light on, and playing music at a certain time during the night. However, I wasn’t able to find an effective method to wake up. In the end, I wound up finding the most success in the morning.

Every morning when I woke up, I would try the tech. (when I remembered to at least) I would try it twice (It usually failed the first two times). Then, I would go back to sleep normally. When I woke up again (usually about 30 mins later) I would try it again.

After a few months of trying I was able to do FILDs back to back.. Once I was able to get it to work about 5 times in a row (all very short LDs though). The key is to train yourself to do the tech. instantly when you wake up. And even if it didn’t work.. it only took 30 seconds of my time.

The very first time I got my tech. to work was due to rain on my sky light. I was woken up in the middle of the night, and gave it a shot. I started moving my fingers, and then did a RC a few seconds later. Right before I did the RC I was thinking.. there's no way this is gonna work.. I know I’m still awake. But to my surprise I was dreaming. I was so shocked that I woke up instantly. (That morning I started the first post on ld4all and then moved it to here)

I have tried around 10 times. I have had around 5-6. I can easily fall back asleep
      LDs: approx. 51
Why sleep when you can dream?

Ive been trying the fild tech for about 2 months, and i havent had a lucid yet. I had a quick question for those who had it work. When moving your fingers, how fast and how high do you go? You use your index and middle finger, correct? Also, when doing the RC do you honestly feel like your still awake?

This gave me some of my first lucid dreams, but I haven't really used it since, its a cool method if you can get it to work.

When I do it I solely concentrate on my fingers. I do it for real really slow and small, then it automatically stops doing it, keep concentrating on your fingers.

I moved my fingers kind of quickly, back and forth, but hardly going up and down at all, really just wiggling them. Unfortunately after my first success and excited posting, I haven't been able to repeat it. Like everything elseI have tried, it only worked once for me. But, it was exactly as described in the tutorial, I really did not know when I had fallen asleep, I just knew I was dreaming but I was still moving my fingers up and down.

I'm still trying; hope I can get it to work again.

I hope more people will post their results.

I was curious if FILD is effective as an ongoing technique or if it only works once or twice from novelty.

Thanks for this perspective. It looks like FILD could be similar to other techniques in that persistence and effort are important to get results.

I'm usually not able to go straight back to sleep like that, but te time I felt tired when I woke up, it worked. I was then woken before I could do anything in the LD though, I had to go to school.

The first time I tried FILD I got successful results, which is the only method in which I have managed to do so. FILD works really well for me, I manage to get lucid about 80% of the time when I try this, and about 60% of the time I can get out of bed without waking up. I'm thinking that next time I may fly or levitate out of bed, so I don't do the movement of actually standing up.

I don't know why people are getting short LDs with this method... My four longest Lucids came from FILDs, lol.
