      HS or real?

Yesterday, as I was trying to WILD I experienced some sounds which I were not sure if they were real or not. I have never attempted WILDing before, this was the first time. As it was my first time, I used the guide created by BillyBob (thank you) which can be found on this url. http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26104. Anyway, as I was counting I believe I got somewhere in the middle of 200 and 300 before I stopped.

As I was around the 50 area I could hear a noise almost coming from the air that sounded like an alien spaceship to me. It would make the *whoop-whoop* noises, but I disregarded it thinking it was something else (it also sounded like a quite vacuum cleaner). That noise basically went throughout my whole counting and would be audible and non-audible at times. One time, actually it made me almost go insane and get really dizzy and it felt like I was falling. The other noise which entered at about 150 was footsteps. These footsteps I heard in the attic. They sounded very real, so I thought they were real, maybe just not footsteps. The last noise came near the end as I was counting and it sounded like pacing and breathing around my room. Eventually I stopped counting to concentrate on these noises, not knowing what they were. I was very dizzy after a while and I felt like i was falling and spinning through my mattress and I felt a very wierd sensation go throughout my body for a long time. This all continued for about 2-5 minutes until I thought I was in a SP and decided to see if I can move anything, and I could. I moved my feet a little and the noises and feelings vanished slightly. They began to become vrey minor and basically dissapear. Then I just totally moved my whole body and went to sleep normally (no recall this night).

My question is, how do I know if these noises are real or fake? They all sounded real and if even some are fake I'm pretty sure that the spaceship sounding noise was real, but something else. Thank you in advance for reading, and perhaps answering. I'm very anxious to know if this was a good or bad thing and how to prevent or further it in my next attempt at a WILD.[/url]

I used to hear noises every time I WILDed, I think for me, they were brought about by fear of what I might hear and I was listening for them. (I used to hear footsteps, people breathing in my ear, things falling in my room etc.. ) to solve this I just simply put in earplugs every time I WILDed, I still heard noises for awhile but I knew that if they were were real they wouldn't be nearly as loud, so they didn't have any effect on me whatsoever.

Also if your not wearing a sleepmask or something to cover your eyes with I heavily advise that you do (before you get SP and start hallucinating things in your room )

PS. you may need to adjust the time that your up before WILDing (make it shorter) so that your body goes into SP faster. (the trick is making so you can stay conscious just long enough for your body to shut down and you enter the dreamstate ) WILDing is so "hard" because its not a totally set in stone "wake up at this time, go back to bed at this time" kind of method, all our bodies have their own needs.

just don't give up until you have at least one you might have to tweak my method a bit but its well worth the effort (also don't just look at my tutorial, Seekers and others are good sources as well)

Thanks for the reply. It's kind of wierd how your mind can generate noises that sound so real based on fear. Don't worry, I won't be giving up until I accomplish a WILD. It might be hard for me to get a sleepmask (although I can just find something to put around my eyes) and I don't fully understand the point of it since I'm not going to be opening my eyes to see any HI. Thanks again, I'll be practicing every night until I finally get it .

I once saw through my eyelids when i first entered a lucid dream (I was so afraid of what I would see if I opened my eyes that even though they were closed I could see right through them ) when your in the semi-retarded limbo state of losing consciousness and staying awake its easy to make stupid mistakes (ie. oh no, there's a real monster in front of me that has made me able to see through my eyelids!"
if you have a sleepmask on you'll know beyond a doubt that that's impossible. (and also it helps with the WILD itself, you may suddenly find that the lights in your room are on, so you open your eyes to see whats up and find you wife/mom/room-mate plundering through your closet, but you realize your sleepmask is gone, which triggers a reality check

that's nothing, just look at what its doing when your in an LD
