      WILD and impatience...lethal mix.

Another night of failed WILDing by and more self-kicking for it to come.

Now, with exhaustion in the middle of the night ignored and discomfort put aside by relaxation came the third problem: impatience. -.-

Woke up at 4 AM, got rid of distractions and went back to bed...that's when it all went wrong.
Perhaps 4 AM is too late for me to wake up for WILD, perhaps it was too hot but what seems to be the real problem is that after roughly a minute of focusing on my breathing I started feeling either uncomfortable physically or just plain impatient of not being relaxed enough to get into sleep onset.

As a result I ended up tossing and turning for over half and hour and then somehow drifted off compeltely unaware of it and, as with the previous few nights, woke up in the morning with the realization of utter failure.

Perhaps anyone has any advice on fighting impatience such as this?
When I took up meditation a while back, with some progress I saw that I was becoming more patient and was able to focus my attention on my breath longer and longer with each meditation session. Perhaps it's worth pursuing again, hmm.

Well for one when it comes to Relaxation: I have had ADHD all my youth and still a tid bit. So I know all about phisical and mental discomfort. And also I have learned how to deal with it. let me give you some overviewable and valueable tips:

1 - When you didn't lucid dream, despite the effort, It shouldn't at all be a big deal or frustration: You have a whole LIFETIME to train: It's not like you're in a hurry right? Just chill, keep a positive spirit, begin the day with a smile and think: more luck next Night.

2 - Phisically relaxing when you are kinda restless, physically or mentally...usually both, then you should do a simple Relaxation technique. FIRST OF ALL: Don't become to obsessed with ''I've gotta relax'' that thought will only make you more restless.
My Phyical therapist once learned me a very simple but effective relaxing technique:
Try and feel your weight on the matrass, start feeling heavy by focussing on all parts of your body: Feet, Lower Legs, Upper Legs, Torso, arms and eventaully head. By Focussing ALL you attention on one part, totally relaxing it and moving on to the next you will reach extremely relaxed states. Make sure you breathe slowly and don't take very deep breaths. Just go over on low oxigen-use.

3 - Get rid of Impatience: Simply by comming to realise that you don't have a deadline to think about. You have a lifetime of dreaming in which you should take all the time you need to become lucid, no matter how long that may be. It should never be a frustration when you don't succeed. It's just ''Too bad'' but no more, and with this positive mood you'll find it much easier to keep training yourself in becomming lucid. there's no need to get frustrated. If not tonight than perhaps tomorrow night. Don't expect any results in a reasonably soon time. Don't go and ''WAIT'' for it to happen. Just train hard and have no expectations or prejudice about LDing. Just train it and observe whatever happens WHEN it does. cuz it certainly WILL eventually

I cannot tell you ''the secret Revelations of how to lucid dream'' but I can however give you the insight you need to get on the right track. Doesn't mean there you're gunna reach Lucidity in a week, or a month, or 6 months....but eventually you certainly will...Maybe only light lucidity at first like I Experienced. Just Keep reading alot of Insightfull stuff about this subject: that's the best help on Lucid Dreaming you can get.

Insights into your dreamworld, psyche, sleep and everything evolving around Lucid Dreaming.try to UNDERSTAND the processes better...trust me and keep reading insightfull stuff on LDing, like I do. It really helps.

Heh, unfortunately the impatience I speak of is short term. The impatience to get into sleep onset, not the impatience to get my first WILD.

However, unfortunately I do have a deadline and one I should have met two days ago. That failure resulted in something I'm not likely to forgive myself for ever.

But aside from that, that physical relaxation advice seems useful and logically sensable. I've felt the same before having randomly used a likewise technique to relax physically (focusing on body parts, weight, etc.).

Thanks for the advice at any rate, think I'll wake up at 3 AM tonight. That should do the trick since I seem to have shaken off the exhaustion that was present the first time I did so.

well getting back into normal sleeping times can be easy by taking valium for instance or oother sleeping aid medication for a short period of time untill you have adapted to normal bedtimes again.

This will mostlikely whipe out your Dream Recall since it's comatic.

If I get this straight, your impatience is a form of ''boredom'' right?

Like.... *sigh*....when the hell am I going to get the images and fall asleep and go lucid
      ...
Must've been 5 minutes now and i'm just doing nothing..waiting...
      ...
      =_= screw this.

      Somewhat like that?

Just use sleep aid's (lol I accidentaly wrote slaip) OR just work on your discipline, I'll write on that later.

antihistimines are the best way to go, but they still run the risk of you falling in too deep a sleep for your recall to kick in. Discipline for the win..

The two past nights I've missed hearing the alarm all together...which is the oddest thing I can think of happening really.

Seems the previous several nights of waking up took their toll and now I'm not waking up even to a loud alarm that rings for a minute at 3 AM. -.-'
