Okay, I'm very new here and only found this place 3 days ago, so I don't know a whole lot about LD's and stuff.

Last night, I went to bed thinking that I would remember all my dreams, and that I would wake up after each one. This was my first attempt at doing this. During the night I had about 3 dreams that I can remember. In all of them I did not get LD, but I did get a few spots in them that I thought, "Well that's really weird." There was one weird thing last night though. I remember thinking to myself in the middle of the night," It's a dream, it's a dream." I just can't decide if I was awake or not though. After thinking it was a dream, I think I remember noticing that nothing was happening. Is it also possible that I just forgot about the LD?

I'd like to know from any experienced people if they have any suggestions for me. I understand that I'm very new at this and that I probably need more practice. I was also wondering if WILD is worth trying. It seems like it would be very hard and that I might need more experience. I have been doing reality checks for the last few days. Thanks guys!

Hey there, and welcome to DV!

You're right on both counts -- more practice will help, and WILD can be very difficult for a lot of people. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try it; you might be one of the ones that it comes easily to. But you might want to focus on some easier methods like MILD + WBTB first.

In any case, don't give up (it does take time and patience), and don't be afraid to ask any questions!

With MILD, the keystone is that (for me at least) your affirmation and visualizing mustbe the last thing that you think about before the moment of sleep. Same goes for dream incubation. Try incubation first before you start MILDing, just so you can get a feel for falling asleep with a focused intention. Once you see that you can transfer your last waking thought into the dream, you'll gain more faith in MILD and your willpower and desire will go through the roof! What LaBerge says about MILD is true. Once you get down the basics of it, you really can induce an LD almost at will. Don't forget to run through your visualization and evrything after you do an RC! That's key too.

      Welcome!

Basically, dream incubation is concentrating on what you want to dream about before falling asleep. You'll visualize the location, people, feelings, etc - every last detail that you can. Really concentrate on the all the details of the dream and how it makes you feel. By incubating a dream, one can actually plan out their dreams ahead of time. It takes some practice and sometimes takes awhile but it can be done.
