Aaaah!! Got REALLY close last night!

I'll skip most of the dream, since it was a bit long...

In the important part, I was in a locker room in an unknown school. I was walking to the showers with a towel around my waist, and of course I was barefoot. But I looked down and there were suddenly socks on my feet. I took them off, tossed them aside, and kept walking. Then I looked down again, and they were back on! This process kept repeating, and it was really frustrating because the floor was wet. I thought "This is really weird. You'd think it'd be a dream or something."

When I got into the showers, my socks were sopping wet. I took off my towel( ), hung it up, and in my irritation, tossed my drenched socks on the floor. I took a shower for a few minutes, then thought "You know, maybe it IS a dream..." so I closed my eyes, folded my hands over my chest, and tried to fly. I concentrated on floating, being lighter than air. Nothing happened. I opened my eyes again. "Oh well, I guess it is reality."

How I woke up was interesting as well... I was standing in the shower when I heard a knock on a window pane behind me. I began to turn around, when suddenly I was awake in my bed, with my mom telling me I have to get up. The knock had actually been my mom knocking on my door.

      Damn!!! That was pretty close...

Next time, instead of just trying to realize you are dreaming by trying to fly, or any other lucid skill, I would suggest you try some sort of reality check previous to that, and then you should be able to levitate, once you have complete certainty...

      Anyway, great job!
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Oh man, so close!!! I agree with Truthbearer, try multiple reality checks. The thing that was a bummer also was the false awakening when you woke up in the shower!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Uh... how am I supposed to control my reality checks in the dream? I would have to be lucid to be able to do that, right?

Oh, and it wasn't a false awakening. I was in the shower in the locker room in the dream. Must not have been clear enough.

You can't achieve complete lucidity until you realize, without a doubt that it is a dream. If you tried to levitate, that was a reality check. Next time just try something else and once you realize beyond doubt it is a dream you will be lucid.

I don't think you understand. I didn't choose to try to fly. My dream-self just did it. I had no control.

Also, a strange thing... whenever I do reality checks IRL, I always read/re-read some text, or look at my hands. I've only ever tried to fly two or three times.

i think its funny how things in the waking life can wake you up, but the end of your dream translates it into a dream right before you wake up...like the knock on your door/window pane...one time i was having a dream that satan was chasing me, and he stabbed me with his trident thing in the toe, which woke me up, and really my cat had attacked/stabbed my toe...very funny

Yea, that happens when the phone rings or someone is talking next to you when you sleep. You incoraprate it into your dream.

Once I had a really literal experience of something like that. I was in a beautiful dreamscape (mountain, waterfall, forest, ruins) playing hide and seek with a DC.

I was walking down the steps of one of the giant ruins when I heard my mom's voice come down from the sky telling me it was time to wake up.

I was like: But I don't want to wake up, I like this dream. During this time my dream was as vivid as ever. Then the voice from the sky (aka mom) said again to wake up or I'll miss school. So I agreed reluctantly and wondered how to wake up. In the end I decided to jump into the sky towards the voice and it worked and I woke up.

      It was a cool experience.
