alright. ive been trying wild for about a week now...maybe 5 times. i just got some silicone earplugs in so i used them last night and i loved them. the dead silence really helped me get into the zone as to opposed to my heartrate rising in rage everytime a car went by. anyway, i usually do the counting breaths method, but someone in a thread told me not to do it for some reason and i wasnt really feeling it anyway so i just kinda let my mind wander around to different werid thoughts but kept them from hynotizing me into sleep. anyway, my body was feeling quite numb and then out of nowhere i here this LOUD sound that sounded like a combination of a low E on a bass guitar and a deep human voice. it only lasted a second and it did startle me, but not too much. anyway, 10 seconds later my heart-rate starting racing and i found my breathing quickened a lot and the blackness behind my eyelids starting lighting up and i saw swirls...naturally i kinda got excited and confused and it wore off. i contiuned with the WILD and heard the sound again a while later, but it was much less loud this time. then, i felt a couple waves come over my body that felt like all my nerve endings being stimulated briefly...kinda like a wave of shivers but i know i defintley wasn't cold. here's my question:
A.) What was the deal with that noise? I'm 80% sure it couldn't have come from any external source because those earplugs are strong and i can't think of anything that would produce that noise (except a ghost playing one of my guitars).
B.) What was the deal with those waves of tingling?
C.) What was the deal with my heart-rate racing shortly after i heard the noise? there's a chance it would have been excitment or me being startled...but i dont think so because there was a delay between the noise and the heart-racing and it felt like it was totally out of my control.

im hoping this was WILD-related phenomena. if so, it will motivate me to keep trying.

      A) what you probably heard was hypnagogic sounds. See, going from a complete wake state into a dream is impossible, or else you would hear those cars in your dream. So your body creates sounds for a second or two, then stops it. Believe it or not year hearing is basically shut of after that. For me, its a loud, low pitch ring followed by a popping noise.

      B) what you felt was the onset or beginnings of sleep paralysis. Plain and simple. Or maybe you were just cold

      C) You probably just got too excited. Thats all. And it will KILL a WILD attempt in its tracks. Plus, heartrate isnt ever really "in your control". Or maybe you were entering REM. Who knows?

Anyway, it sounds like you are making good progress, especially for only a weeks worth of attempts. Just keep going and that stuff wont bother you as much.

your right it probly wasnt from a external source ive heard the noises too when i wild. For me it is the sound that u hear when u yawn, combined with weird beeping noises and popping sounds.

you may need to learn to relax, ive had images appear, but before I could even get that far I had to take every sound I hear as 'a soothsaying outside noise 'rather than 'waking me up bad noise that i want to kill whoever is making it '
