This seems to be fairly similar to my experiences, though they haven't been many. But, it SOUNDS from your account, that you MAY have tried to do too much, too soon in the WILD. Instead of moving around and getting up immediately, you may want to let the dream "solidify" a bit more in future, before you try to get up off your bed and walk around in the dream.
I find it helps to look at the back of your hand... and if you feel unsteady in the dream and off-balance, and shit is shifting around you... sort of "Drunken Walls"... (You'll understand what that means if you experience it...) then, I find it helps to grab on to something, like a table, to steady yourself, and concentrate on how the table (or whatever) feels under your hands. The general idea, is to make a dream more stable through focussing on sensation, whether touch, sight, hearing, etc.
Also, you describe your torso being "lifted" off your bed. This is exactly what I get. Classic WILD, you made a successful transition. Congratulations!
And BTW, about the "astral plane"... a great number of members, myself included, don't believe in all this "astral" stuff, despite having had experiences that "believers" would label as "astral" or "out of body". So, just saying, don't take Astral stuff as absolute fact. I think it's new-age rubbish, but hey, whatever.
But anyway, good work on your first successful WILD. And yes, this WAS a success.
