The following is a technique created by someone of a forum (it doesnt tell the maker) and it was posted Here.
i named it the Damn technique because i dont know how else to call it.
Originally in spanish, i will be the bad translator

1.- you dinner and say "Im going to sleep, Damn! (Note that the "damn" is very important)
2.- You go to bed and you laugh because you´re completely sure that youre gonna make it
3.- you relax and close your eyes, think anything you want (music, videogames, what happen on the day etc.), only be aware that when you start to see the firsts images on your mind that look like a dream,when you´re about to fall asleep (note of the bad translator: the author is refering to the Hipnagogic Imagery stuff) , so open your eyes for a moment and close them again and say "HAH!, i didnt fall asleep i´m too good".
4.- In a minute at least you will note that the images come back , you open you eyes again (the objective is not to fall asleep. repeat that six or seven times and you will feel a strange sensation (note of the bad translator: i think he is refering something like the sleep paralisis and heaviness sensation). when you feel it, you let yourself sleep and when you´re dreaming you´re gonna feel that sensation again and say "AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! i´m dreaming" then you will be able to enjoy
Problems with this technique
the author says he succeded 2 of 10 times he tried the technique, because he fall asleep
