if you have the read the no rem, no luck it tells of a woman having a stroke and basically losing the abillity to dream and then mRI show that a part in the back of your brain called the occiptal lobe is responcible for dream as a part of this lobe called the right inferior gyrus was damaged. this is incredible proof for neuroscientist that dreams does not come from REM. if you want to discuss this goto no rem, no luck.

well that said i dont fully understand how the right inferior gyrus works all i basically know is how it is activated (during the stroke the woman had a really realistic dream that she said she could not tell the differences between the dream and reality) so this post will proberly be updated more then once.

what does the right inferior gyrus do

      well in bullet points
. it most improtant function is to do with mirror imaging when you see something it is backward and upside down.
.faces and location this is the second most improtant function if this is damaged it very common to cws whitch is a disorder where you think a location is a duplicate and you mix up your close relative like see you mom as your brother e.t.c.
. less improtant is that it activated by movement a little
their could be more function but this is a early version.

      learn mirror writing

this is kind of straight forward just get a piece of paper think of something to write and then try to write the sentence like it would be in a mirror. once you have done this get a mirror and see if the writing is correct finally repeat and begin to reverse the letter in your mind practice intill you get near perfection then try in your head by visualizing word backward.

      what now
well once you can do mirror writing and reading then you will have to do some visualization. improtant thing to remeber is the visualization can be really rubbish. all you need to is imagine something try your hardist to see it in your mind and then twist it so it the mirror image which is the same priniciple you did with writing. note the more you do this the more your brain in that part getting activated this make your visualization more real and would stimulate the part making dream more realistic. another improtant thing is to try and get normal object in everyday reality and picture the mirror image of it you should do this lots during the day or constant if your obessive like me.

      lucid dreaming
this will proberly be updated. well to lucid dream all you need to do is combined to concept mirror image and location/people. this is done by imaging a friend face or a particular building what you need to do is try and make it very vivid (do not care about realism) and then just simply imagine it as it mirror image. what you imagine has to be a person or a location and you have to then imagine mirror image this process would theortically stimulate the part of your brain responcible for dream. just keep on doing this if you get tried or frustrated just relax and tone down visualiation.

p.s. well if you do decide to try dont do the thing where you wake up five hours later to try wild do it when you go straight to bed and seriously do not do counting method i mean it.

well i have repeated twice and got very realistic dreams whitch i was nearly lucid (in one dream i said to my self this is too real to be a dream) i dont know if it the placebo effect intill a couple of days. that said i have found out that all you need to do is when going to sleep imagine a place mine was my school that i go to and then just imagine the reverse or mirror image of school just keep on imagining faces and location intill you fall asleep. for best result imagine something that is dark and keep on imaging mirror image you want this process to be clear and vivid so you can actually see everything changing and you notice the difference. the best thing is that you go with the flow dont plan what you our going to imagine just try and make it vivid (not caring about realism) and changing it into mirror image. if you do this ok you will notice yourself in a very realistic dream and as you go on doing this you will gain more consciousness in dream and then finally lucidity.

p.s. i am still not made up on the issue of is it better to have a strong or weak attampt at visualization.

I find your experiment extreamly interesting. I will try to work on this from time to time and let you know how it goes. Please keep updating your results!

well after some success then nothing i was beginning to think it might be a placebo effect so i though what Darwin using obeseration and Mendal. so i pick all the weak qualities using weak visualization, location, faces, beauty, light, relaxed and weak mirroring result where promising as two hours in i suddenly saw in front of me a deformed in a picasso sort of way woman to my dismay and foolishness i work myself up on purpose it hard to explain why. well tonight i will try strong visualization then the next strong location to e.t.c. hopefully i will shorten lengh needed with tons of results. i would go into dreams but it not that interesting.

I don't understand, how does visualising the mirror image of things help you to lucid dream?

I believe the idea is that it stimulates the "Right Inferior Gyrus," which, according to the study that was mentioned in becomingagodo's first post, is the part of the brain which handles dealing with mirror images, and also has an effect on dreams.

By using the mirror image technique the hope is that it's also stimulating the dreaming aspect.
