I've been keeping a dream journal for a while now. I record all my dreams in it, only what I have dreamed. Should I include anything else in my dream journal?

Study your Dream Journal. Your Dream Entries are Windows into the Dream World. Look for Symbolism and Metaphors. Your subconscious may be trying to tell you somethings.

I've notice since I've started recording in my dream journal again, my recall has significantly increased

Don't forget to write down anything you may have eaten to help you dream at night. I know chocolate gives me very vivid dreams. There was a post on it somewhere on these forums.

Like Dave said, study your dream journal and look for patterns, it may be helpful to reread an entry before bed to get your mind on the topic.

It's your journal - you can put whatever you want in it. Personally, I use a Word document on my computer to record all my dreams. Most times, I have to scribble notes down in a small notepad next to my bed to remember all the points of the dream, then I transfer it in it's entirety when I can.
      • I like to also give my dreams titles so when I'm scanning back through my journal looking for a specific dream or whatever, I can quickly tell what dream it is without having to read it.
      • Then I write out the dream itself - I prefer to record it in the present tense, but whatever you prefer is fine.
      • I highlight any of my common dreamsigns, so when I'm going back through my journal, I can easily spot how often I'm dreaming about a specific dreamsign.
      • Then I write any feelings/thoughts I have immediately after waking up (if I remember waking up afterwards).
      • My state of mind when I feel asleep that night (really tired, anxious, etc.).
      • My own interpretation of the dream (if I think it's significant enough to have meaning).
Obviously, this takes more time - but that's the way I've always liked to do it. I feel like I get more out of my dreams this way. It's all up to you and what you feel like doing.

But it's more important just to get your dreams down on paper if you're struggling with recall then it is to do all the fancy stuff. You can always add some of this stuff as you go if you want. It makes it more interesting anyway!
