      First Lucid! But cannot fly

I had my first lucid dream last night, about a week after I found out about lucid dreaming. I was in my house reading about LD, and then I realized "wait a second, I am dreaming right now." It was amazingly realistic too. So I walked right out the front door onto my front porch, and I jumped twenty feet in the air, but instead of flying, for some reason i fell down to the ground and heard my bones cracking, then it was over.

It was an amazing experience though, and I look forward to the next one.

Hey congrats on the your first lucid! I haven't been able to fly yet either in my dreams. Like you I only manage to jump 20 feet or so then float down. I haven't broken any bones yet though. Oh well, they say control comes with time and patience. Congrats again

heh, that sounds interestingly similar to my first lucid.

As far as the not being able to fly, it wasn't untill my 5th lucid that I accomplished that, it may take a few tries.

Atleast you could junp that high. I had an LD last night that I barely remember. I tried to fly, but it didn't work. I find that some LDs are stronger then others, because I had a very real dream a few weeks ago, and it became lucid. When I was lucid, I had LOTS of power. Maybe your next LD will be more powerful.

the best way for me to fly in dreams is to take off running and then start leaping higher into the air with each step and boom! i take off. hasnt failed me yet

Next time try jumping off 20th floor...3rd floor always works for me...but I think for you 20th.... Reason is that you will have time to....fly...unless you are thinking of hitting the ground, it's a reflex for self preservation to fly/float that should work even in dreams.

When I fly in dreams I just sort of levitate and guide myself with my arms. I could do it the first time I tried, and I think I was so sucessful because I didn't even consider the fact that it wouldn't work. Most of the time it is doubt that holds you back. Like Neo trying to junmp across the buildings in the Matrix, you have to believe you can

I personally just take straight off, kinda like Iron Man would...although I just have the ability to fly. No need for a suit.

      cool

last night i had a semi-lucid dream where i took a spaceship to mars but the ship started burning up in the atmosphere so i had to jump out. So i fell through the sky and eventually learned to glide before i hit the ground. Too bad I dont remember the whole thing though.

I quite agree with that...I almost "SPLAT" on the floor in one of my lucids because I was unsure if it was a dream or not. I only had a few seconds to be sure because I jumped off the window and fell free fall before I was sure and I levitated a few inches from the ground...When I was sure....
