I have never had an LD before but this is beginning to be a common occurance. It started to be once a week but now its beginning to be every night. Here is what happens:

Im dreaming normally and then somehow i realize its a dream but INSTANTLY after everything goes black. During this time im semi-concious, concious enough to remember thinking that if i waited long enough the dream would come back and I would be lucid. However slowly I end up feeling my bed and just opening my eyes.

Lately though, when the dream turns black I get the strongest falling sensation like im falling out of my bed but not hitting the ground.

Any one got any advice? Is this farely common or just me?

      Thanks

      The falling feeling is normal.

When your become lucid, immediately start spinning or rubbing your hands together, while simultaneously yelling out "Increase lucidity!" over and over until you stabilise.

If it fails, and you feel like you have woken up, DONT MOVE. Dont open your eyes either, just lay there and there is a very good chance that you will fall into another LD, particularly since you are already feeling the falling sensation.

After a perceived 30 or so seconds, do a RC... You may be in a LD or you may have had a FA. Good luck!

That's exactly what's happened to me both times I've almost been lucid.

Thanks for those tips Sparrower I'll try them out.

lespaulsRcoo, did you notice your whole body go tingly when this happened?

      Hmm, thanks for responding.

One problem though is that im not fully awake and not fully making concious decisions so I wont remember to spin or shout.

To answer the above- yes I do get a tingly feeling.

Sounds like my first lucid. Started out as a normal dream then blacks out and the same dream scene comes back but in super HI-DEF and full lucidity. I think it's got to do with a direct dream reentry or something like WILD.
