Well, I had this extremely vivid dream last night and at one point we were sitting in a car with five people and then I was thinking to myself that this entire dream must be a dream (yes, that's what I thought), since it shouldn't (no, not couldn't but shouldn't&#33 happen in real life. So I did a reality check, I checked my watch 3 times, but eh, yeah, it was my watch, didn't look strange or anything but the three times that I looked at it, it said the same time, 5 to 11. I was thinking about trying to fly, but I was sitting in a car, so I couldn't really jump, and it didn't even occur to me that other reality checks existed, so yeah... So then I figured that it wasn't a dream and that I should just enjoy "life as it was happening right now".

if only my watch hadn't been so constant...

      I feel your pain.

It seems that just recently, the last few weeks or so, I've become lucid nearly every night but it seems like a passive attitude so it never sticks with me, or my reality checks don't work out.

A few months back I had a dream the my car blew up. WHAT! I hoped very much that I was dreaming. I found a clock that said 4pm, on the dot. I check twice more and it never changed....needless to say I started thinking about getting a new car.

A few days ago my Jeep hadn't been running for about a week. I had a dream that I was driving with my girlfriend back in my hometown. We're always challenging each other to check if we're dreaming. I laughed as I drove and said "Ha! my Jeep is running, I must be dreaming" never thinking twice about it.

For me I think a big part of it is worrying about doing something if it really isn't a dream. What if you thought that you were absolutely sure you were dreaming and said something to a stranger to induce a sexual dream....that stranger would probably file a charge against you. Good luck in the future.

I know how you guys feel. I've had tons of dreams were I am dreaming, do an RC, and then after I relize I'm dreaming I just continue on with my dream as if this particular bit of knowledge never came to my attention.
Dreaming is like pie...It gets addictive.

Now I feel bad, ive only had 2 semi lucid dreams and I havent been trying for months, ive been too busy and frustrated that ive lost interest. Although I want to have a LD, ive never had one and dont know what to expect, maybe im over dreaming the fact that it wont be as good as I think it will be.

I always thought it would be like being awake, in the real world, but with crazy stuff and physic bending abilities and so forth... but its problably less intense..

if you've never had one, i can safely say (in my opinion) that it's every bit as cool as you dream it will be. no pun intended, seriously. again, just my opinion. it took me a month and a half of REALLY trying to have one before i did, so i had plenty of time to build it up. and when i finally had one, it was INCREDIBLE. i was instantly hooked.

one thing i can tell you is that if you try TOO hard, it makes it more difficult. that's what my problem was. one night i was getting tired of trying so hard so i just went to sleep. that night, i had my first LD! since then, something that helps occasionally is to tell myself, "it's ok if i don't have a lucid dream tonight." i say that to myself over and over as i go to sleep. can either be done at night or in the morning if you're going to try WILD'ing or something. saying "lucid dream" puts that in your head... like MILD. but saying the first part takes the pressure off. just try to have a relaxed state of mind and tell yourself to just have fun. that's an idea that worked for me, i hope it works for you.

for Luci: i always use the watch/clock thing for my RC's and it's always worked for me. i can see what you're saying though, and you've got to use what works for you. an idea i've read on here recently is to plug your nose and try to breathe through it. or try to jump and see if you can fly/float. and of course you can always try adjusting light levels like flicking a light switch on and off, which i'm told can't be done in a LD.
