Okay, so last night I, once again, tried BillyBob001's First WILD Technique.

It was so much fun, and I didn't even make it into the dream-state.

Anyways, I started counting my breaths as usual, and after about 150 counts I reached sleep paralysis. I then ceased counting, as BillyBob001 recommended, which helped me start getting images in my head, without losing consciousness.

Eventually, my eyes started fluttering wildly, as they had in my previous WILD attempt. I thought to myself, "This time I'm NOT going to open my eyes before I reach the dream world!"

They kept fluttering, and then the ambient color in my eyelids started getting increasingly brighter. My heart race shot up, I was going to make it into the dream! So, the light kept getting brighter and brighter... Brighter, and even more brighter!

I stared into the light and it seemed as if everything had gained depth, even though what I was seeing was only one color. It felt as if I was in an environment...

      So I opened my eyes.

Damnit! Hahahah... Oh well, until tomorrow night.

I guess you have to keep your eyes seriously shut until you're totally immersed in the dream world, then?

Definitely GET UP after awakening from your 5.5-6 hours of sleep. You need to empty your bladder, get a sip of something to drink, maybe even eat a little if you feel pain in your stomach. Walk around, think about math or something technically-challenging. Read.

Stay up until you feel that you're conscious enough to be able to count your breaths without losing consciousness and drifting into unconscious sleep.

And remember to focus solely upon counting until you reach SP!

I mean, you could stay in bed as long as you kept your mind running for a little while before trying to WILD. There are endless possibilities... but if you're having trouble staying conscious, the most well-known tool to rebound that would be getting up before WILDing.

      Try reading, too, though.

i usually dont get out of bed, I wake up very quickly, and i find it easier to slip off into the dream world faster if i just lay in bed and start counting immedeatley after my alarm goes off... i went into SP for my first time, 3 times last night by doing this after trying to get up in previous attempts... just didnt work for me, i think its different for each person.
