I'm trying something that I hope will really work. it's going to be great I hope. There's a song that has a guy talking the whole time. First, he get's you completely relaxing with soothing images, relaxing each part of your body, bringing attention to it. I haven't used the track in sleep, so I haven't heard the whole thing. I only listened to the first part, and a small portion of the end. It's 28 minutes long. Well, from what I can tel, he starts giving you images to work on, and little by little, he starts forming a dream. The trick is, you're supposed to be asleep during the dream narration, so, when he get's to a specific point, you'll be dreaming, and he'll remind you to check your reality. I haven't listened through it all the way, trying not give away too much away to myself. Then I have another song which plays a woman's voice constantly reminding me that I'm in a dream, and to check my reality. Here's the plan. I go to sleep early, and wake up a couple hours earlier than usual. I then turn on the cd with the man's voice. With me being very tired to begin with, I assume I'll go to sleep quite quickly, and with listening I'll get good results, but to add a backup plan, I'll have another alarm to go off exactly when the CD stops, automacly playing the dream narration with a repeating reminder to check my reality. It really sounds like this'll work. If there's anything that sounds wrong, or you would like to add something, please do. I want this to go right! thanks!

i think you should listen to it the whole way before trying it. were did you get the music? because they could have somthing in the end of the tape saying stuff to give you nightmares or somthing. I'm just suggesting this. you never know.

I was trying exactly that last night, but mine failed because I had the volume to loud, it gets kinda frustrating for me ; cause loud noises is another stimuli that keeps me from sleeping

      If I may add something:
In my experience it is so that when I'm listening Music whilst falling asleep, and I have tried this before focussing my attention on the music or voice MP3 sound to maintain awareness, there's a certain point, right before falling into deep sleep, where I hear the Sound softer and softer fading away to the background. Usually next came this Blackout in which I suddenly cannot recall hearing the Sound any longer.

As I came into REM-dreaming sleep I would usually be still way too ''Deeply'' unconscious to be able to pick up the External Sound impulse of the Mp3 playing.

I actually made an MP3 once, using my Synthesizer, where there would be 2 minutes of Silence followed up by Giant Low Church bells sounded 4 times. I would start to play this MP3 when I was very tired and closed my eyes to fall asleep, putting the track on Repeat. This way I could figure out how much time had passed between closing my eyes and Falling to sleep.

I would Count the number of times the Church bells would sound 4 times, meaning 2 minutes had passed. After every 2 minute Clock Sounding I would Burn the new Number into my memory, Visualising it in front of my closed eyes. ''(1 time, 2 times, 3 times...etc) The following morning I would remember the last Number I recalled counting and then multiply that number with 2(minutes) The outcome of this sum would represent the number of Minutes it took me to fall asleep after closing my eyes in bed.

The thing is I have this ''Black Out zone''-point in time where I would, ''suddenly'' no longer hear the Churchbells sound, meaning that if I had just fallen asleep deeply then I could no longer hear Music, Churchbells or any other External Sound Impulses.

I don't know if you recognise this and have the same thing going on, but if so I guess music will not work since you're very unlikely to hear external sound impulses while asleep and thus it won't cathc your awareness.

If you don't know you can allways figure out if you have such a blackout too by doing what I did.
I may be able to upload the MP3 file I mentioned above if you're interrested. In that case I would like someone to link me to a simple file hosting site to where I can upload MP3 files. Anyone?
